Religion,

Papers relating to Jonathan Davies's period as a prominent member of the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist church in Caernarfonshire. Of particular interest are the groups of papers relating to the campaign against Sunday opening, 1889-1890 and letters and papers relating to the Welsh Ministers' Fund appeal in support of the Welsh undenominational church at Cape Town, South Africa.

Professional life,

Papers relating to his activities as a slate merchant with his brother Richard Davies, as company liquidator of several local quarry companies; his own business interests, 1859-1933; the construction and renovation of rail networks in the Ffestiniog and Porthmadog area, 1867-1920; Porthmadog harbour improvements, 1913-1920; and miscellaneous business interests, 1883-1904.

Directors' reports,

Printed annual report, balance sheet and statement of accounts for years ending 1912-1919, 1922-1932. There is also a notice of an Extraordinary General Meeting for the reduction and re-organisation of capital, 1922.

Lease of tramway,

Copy lease, 1 January 1872, for 72 years by John Ralph Ormsby Gore, Brogyntyn, to James Clarke, Newton Heath, Manchester, at a yearly rent of £50, of a portion of an inclined plane tramway or railway situated at Tanygrysiau in p. Ffestiniog, co. Merioneth, from the Wrysgan Slate Quarries to the Ffestiniog Railway, with a copy lease by James Clarke, Newton Heath, Manchester, of a wayleave over a the same at Tanygrysiau, p. Ffestiniog, at a rent of £25 per annum, 1874.

Correspondence, minutes, reports, etc., relating to the promotion of, and proposed extensions of, the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railway; the Portmadoc, Beddgelert, and South Snowdon Railway; and the Portmadoc, Beddgelert, Dinas, and Caernarfon Narrow Gauge Railways.

Memorandum of agreement,

Agreement between Alfred Pritchard, Rosebush, Clynderwen co. Pemb., quarry proprietor and Richard Davies of Davies Brothers of Porthmadog, co. Caern, slate merchants and agents, for the sale and purchase of the whole produce of the Gilfach Green Slate Quarry.
