Solicitors' personal and clients' papers accumulated by the depositor. The Montgomeryshire papers derive from early in the depositor's career, as a solicitor in Newtown. Some of the Ceredigion papers in clients' files derive from Griffith Jones of Aberystwyth, solicitor (1880), later of Aberllolwyn, esq. (1890), while other papers relate to his personal affairs. Other papers derive from the practice of R. Geddes Smith of Aberystwyth, solicitor (1882-1887), which became Smith Owen & Davies [Robert Geddes Smith, William Pierce Owen and William Davies] (1890s), Smith, Davies & Evans [C. Denham Evans] (1910s), Smith Davies & Co., and Smith Jessop & Tomley (late 1960s-early 1970s).

Russian 5% state loan bond certificates and coupons,

Original file of Russian 5% State-Loan of 1906 bonds, comprising 1 bond (187 rouble 50 kop.) certificates no's 357-361 and 549-553, and 5 bond (937 rouble 50 kop.) certificates no's 2341-5, 3771-5 and 4351-5. Also sheets of interest coupons, no. 21 [Oct. 1917]-40 (April 1927). The Oct. 1917 coupons have been cut away, and were presumably paid. Included in the file is a letter from the Foreign Claims Office of the UK Foreign Office, acknowledging receipt and registration of Mrs E. A. Lewes's Russian claim, Sept. 1918.

Roberts v. Richards,

Original bundle of papers relating to a claim in the Queens Bench (Aberystwyth District Registry (ref. 1954 R 6) between David Blakeway Roberts (plaintiff) and Alun Richards (defendant), and the counter-claim of Alan Richards (plaintiff), David Blakeway Roberts and Glynne Whittington Rowlands (defendants) and Glynne Whittington Rowlands (third party). The claims relate to a collision between Glynne Whittington Rowlands of Aberystwyth, grocer's motor car, Alun Richards of Cwmsymlog, agricultural worker's motor cycle, and Dr David Blakeway Roberts of Rhydyfelin's motor car opposite Caebeidwl, between Penparcau and Rhydyfelin, on 11 Nov. 1952. The papers include statements, reports, instructions to counsel, opinions, and snapshots and negatives of the site.

Rex v. Robert Evans,

Original files of papers relating to the prosecutions at the Cardiganshire Winter Assizes, Lampeter, of (i) Robert Evans for rape and unlawful wounding, and (ii) of William Evans of having carnal knowledge without consent, contrary to Common Law, comprising statements and brief for the prosecution. Verdict for (i): guilty of rape and pleaded guilty to actual bodily harm; 3 years penal servitude.

Rev. Thomas Denham Williams's sermons,

Original bundle of notes for sermons, the few dated ranging from 1883 to 1901, plus two printed items: 'Farewell sermon preached at the Church of the Holy Trinity, East Finchley, by the Rev. T. Denham Williams on Sunday evening, April 26, 1891', and 'When ye pray : war prayers compiled by Bernard W. Keymer, vicar of Eastleigh' (1916).
