Letters and memoranda, 1916-17, proposing possible solutions to the problem of home rule for Ireland and produced in anticipation of the Irish Convention summoned by D. Lloyd George in 1917-18. Most of the contributions are by individuals not directly involved in politics; they include a 'Memorandum Concerning the Present and Future Relations of Great Britain and Ireland in the Empire', drawn up by the poet and mystic, George William Russell ('A. E.') and several others (ff. 41-62).

Satirical rhymes on parliamentary matters and personalities, numbered 2197-2234, mostly written on the back of order papers and seat cards. They appear to be the work of Sir Wilfred Lawson: they are quite in the vein of his rhymes; his signature is on one of the seat cards; the hand-writing seems to be his (cf. Ellis Papers, nos 1364-5). Many are endorsed by DLlG with a note of the debate which prompted them, and date.

[1907] (2174), Asquith's notes for his speech in the House on the Irish Settlement, 10 July 1916 (2177), decypher of telegram announcing abdication of the Czar, with endorsed note by Balfour, 15 March 1917 (2178), further memorandum by the Irish delegates, 29 Oct. 1921 (2181), medical report on Terence McSwiney, 22 Oct. 1920 (2183), papers relating to the dismissal of Miss Douglas-Pennant as Commandant of the Women's Royal Air Force, 1918 (2184), and papers relating to the 1922 general election (2187-2192). The remainder is largely printed matter.

Owen family papers, numbered 3241-3322, mostly relating to Richard Owen, 1855-1903. They include several bills of sale and other documents connected with ownership of shares in ships. No. 3289 is a receipt to Margaret LlG, 1913, for a share in a vessel being built at Porthmadog.

Letters numbered 3081-3126, to Olwen LlG (later Carey Evans). Nos 3081-122 are from her mother, all but two of them in the years 1922-3 when Major and Mrs Carey Evans were in India; these letters are more expansive than most of the family letters in the collection. Nos 3123-4 are from her father, 1902. No. 3125 is from Lord Reading, 1923.
