This vol., which is very fragmentary, formerly belonged to the late Mrs A. A. Puddicombe of Bronmôr, Tresaith, Cardigan, better known as 'Allen Raine', and contains the following entries:. 'David Nicholas is ye True Owner of this Booke. Recorded by me David James in ye yeare of our Lord 1712' (f. 27); 'Benjamin Jones His Book writen by me the Twenty Seconth day of March 1779' (f. 45). It consists of miscellaneous medical recipes; drafts and copies of legal documents (1712 - 1744) relating to properties in the parishes of Clydey, co. Pemb., and Penbrin, Llangoedmore, Mount, Llandugwydd, and Cilie Aeron, co. Card.; copies of wills (1723 - 1732); presentments of the churchwardens of the parish of Cardigan, 1733-4; a copy of the certificate of the publishing of the banns of the marriage of Owen Evan of Penbryn and Elizabeth Lewis of Llanarth, Feb. 20 1733/4; documents relating to the work of a petty constable, 1732; musical exercises; triads; financial accounts; a fragment of an English - Welsh vocabulary; several fragments of verses used at old Welsh weddings, and drafts of a letter of invitation to the 'neithior' of the writer's son, John, dated at Penybont, June 30 1733; and drafts of letters soliciting support for the writer's candidature at the next co. Card. election, presumably that of 1734.
