Head and shoulders portrait of a soldier in early C20th military uniform, possibly Welsh Regiment - note dragon collar badge as worn by Welsh Regiment prior to 1909.

[Pembroke Yeomanry - individual photos]

Half-plate carte de visite negative containing eight individual portraits of soldiers in the Pembroke Yeomanry. The portraits are in two rows of four arranged 'têtê bêche' style. Due to deterioration only six are in good condition.

Full-length portrait of an elderly army officer wearing a plumed hat and displaying six medals, mainly from campaigns in India. Note that the wearer is not wearing a Victoria Cross and is therefore not thought to be Sir James Hills-Johnes of Dolaucothi.

41st Welsh Regiment

Copy of a framed photograph of a formal group portrait. "41st Welsh Regiment" has been written in ink on the negative. This regiment ceased to exist after 1881 when it amalgamated with the 69th (South Lincolnshire) Regiment of foot.

[Winners of Battalion Challenge Trophy , Penally 1908]

Group portrait of eight soldiers in the Welsh Regiment sitting and standing around a banner proclaiming " Winners of Battalion Challenge Trophy, Penally 1908" below which is a certificate which reads "Battalion Trophy, won by the Llandilo Company 4th Battalion Welsh Regiment at Penally, August 19th 1908" and goes on to list the team members. Unfortunately the team members names are illegible.

[A Mounted Sergeant in the Pembroke Yeomanry]

A Sergeant in the Pembroke Yeomanry astride his horse, a military encampment in the background. He is wearing a plumed slouch hat and holding a rifle (possibly a long Lee-Enfield) the butt of which rests in a holder attached to the horse's saddle. On his left upper arm he has a Farrier's trade badge.,

Half-length portrait of a bandsman Sergeant in the Welsh Regiment wearing the Queen's South Africa Medal with one clasp and the King's South Africa Medal with two clasps. He is also wearing a proficiency star on his right sleeve denoting five years service.
