Five mounted soldiers, cap badges indistinct but possibly that of the Montgomeryshire Yeomanry. All are astride horses standing in shallow water on the edge of a river, a wooded hillside behind them. One soldier wears two Territorial Force Proficiency Stars on his lower right sleeve.
Studio portrait of a couple seated on a rustic bench. The man is in military uniform which includes the economy tunic introduced in 1914, his cap on the lap of the woman (his wife?) next to him. The regimental cap badge is that of the Welsh Regiment and is facing the camera. The woman is wearing a Welsh Regiment sweetheart's badge.
Studio portrait of a Lance corporal in the Welsh Regiment wearing spectacles and holding a baby. The soldier wears spectacles and displays a divisional shoulder patch depicting a drum on his left upper sleeve. This appears to be that of the 45th Infantry Division. At one point in 1914 it was envisaged that Welsh troops would accompany the 45thn Division to India, though the idea was dropped shortly after. This photograph may have been taken in anticipation of service in India. He also appears to have a medal ribbon on his chest.
Informal group portrait taken outdoors, possibly at a Territorial Army summer camp. Most of the soldiers appear to be Montgomeryshire Yeomanry. Note the photographers shadow in the foreground.
A corporal in the Pembrokeshire Yeomanry seated in front of a bell tent, presumably during a Territorial Army summer camp. His uniform, including a pillbox hat is more reminiscent of the nineteenth rather than the twentieth century.
Eight soldiers standing at ease, seven of them holding rifles. Their cap badges include Montgomeryshire Yeomanry, Military Police, a Fusilier and more. Behind them is the portico of a large, but unidentified, building.
A Lance corporal in the Army Service Corps wearing a bandolier and displaying a good conduct stripe arm in arm with a well dressed young lady, possibly his wife.
Studio portrait of three civilians standing behind three seated soldiers. Two of the soldiers wear caps, the badges identifying them as belonging to the Welsh Regiment. The third is bare headed.
Half-length portrait of a Sergeant in the British Army. Part of a Divisional patch is visible on his left shoulder but is sufficiently obscured as to prevent identification.
Formal group portrait of fifty or so soldiers and officers of a Welsh Regiment Territorial Force photographed outside Cartrefle, Llandeilo. A number of soldiers are wearing Territorial Proficiency Stars, whilst some others do not yet have their cap badges.
