Court leet presentments of the manor of Genau’r-glyn

Presentments of the grand jury of the court leet and view of frankpledge and court baron of the manor of Genau'r-glyn which sat twice a year, at Easter and Michaelmas, usually at Tal-y-bont. The presentments are usually arranged according to the constituent townships within the manor. The presentments are of new officers of the courts, for not repairing fences or ditches, encroachments, turning foreign cattle out of the manor, herding cattle out of the manor, etc.

Court leet presentments of the manor of Genau’r-glyn, dated 1851-1856, and presentments and perambulations, 1889-1918. At the back of the volume are summaries of a case in Aberystwyth County Court and presentments, mainly concerning encroachments, 1852-1857; a list of Cardiganshire manors; an abstract of title of Our Lady’s Mill, Aberystwyth, compiled from papers at Woodstock, 1574-1742; routine notices issued by the steward, 1856; and copies of papers relating to the right of Pryse Loveden as lord of the manor to claim wreckage in the manor of Genau’r-glyn, 1854-1860

Letters and affidavits concerning the wreck of a Portuguese ship

Copy of a letter, 1747, by Thomas Lloyd of Abertrinant to the secretary of the custom house, concerning the entitlement of John Pughe Pryse as lord of the manor of Genau’r-glyn to salvage from a Portuguese ship wrecked at Borth in 1746; with affidavits of David Lewis and David James, 1749, and a petition and letter by Edward Williames of Borth, warrener, 1749-1750.

Records of the manors of Emlyn Iscych and Dyffryn Breuan

Records of the manors of Emlyn Iscych (Emlyn Is Cuch) and Dyffryn Breuan in Pembrokeshire, which had descended to the Pryses of Gogerddan by inheritance from the Lewes family of Abernantbychan, comprising chief rentals, 1742, 1793, 1853-1919; court books and court leet presentments, 1832-1918; accounts and receipts, 1646, 1843-1915; and letters, 1876-1895. The court leet was held at Boncath.
