Mining letters : 'Applications for Mining Ground'

Original bundle of letters labelled ‘Applications for Mining Ground to 1866’. They comprise applications for tack notes and other mining topics concerning Plynlimon, Esgair Hir, Llechwedd Helig, Tygwyn in the parish of Penegoes, Ysgubor-y-coed, Court Grange, Ponterwyd, etc. and the slate quarries of Foel Fawr, Foel Fach, Garreg and ?Dolgoch. The correspondents include Samuel Williamson of Holywell, 1852, James Sheldon, 1853, Evan Jones of Machynlleth, 1856, James Hoskins of Machynlleth, 1856, R. P. Harding of Lothbury, London, 1856, John Jones of Commerce House, Aberystwyth, 1861, and John Evans of Morben, Glandydi, 1865. The file also contains heads of agreements for the water course to Lletty Evan Hen, 1852, and Neuodd Fawr stone quarry, 1864; a plan of leats from Craig y Pistyll, and an acceptance of accommodation over Clarach school room, 1865.

Jones of Plasnewydd, Richard Williams and Owen Roberts of Braich Goch Quarry and James Paull of Goginan, 1865. The file also contains a bill from James Williams to Sir Pryse Pryse, 1883.

Letters to J.G. Williams of Gloucester Hall, Sir Pryse Pryse, and G.G. Williams, and relating mainly to the leasing and working of the Llyfnant slate quarry near Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire, with copies of some of the replies, 1864-1881.
