Open letter campaign,

A briefing and flyer on the Anti-Apartheid Movement "Open Letter to John Major" campaign. The purpose of the campaign was to exert pressure via local MPs on the British government, so that they would take action to encourage the South African regime to enter into negotiations regarding a Constituent Assembly and Interim Government.

Correspondence relating to sports boycotts, in particular those opposing rugby and cricket tours of South Africa, supported by the Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM), its affiliates, and the international community. Correspondents include the National and Olympic Sports Conference of South Africa (NOSC/NSC), the African National Congress (ANC), Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), South African Non-Racial Olympic Committee (SAN-ROC), The Wales Trades Union Congress (WTUC) and the Welsh Office, amongst others. Printed items used to raise awareness of the aims of the Wales Anti-Apartheid Movement (WAAM) and to promote its activities, comprising leaflets, flyers, cards and stickers. Also includes some preparatory artwork and lists of members of the House of Commons, the Wales TUC, Cardiff City Council, the Welsh Diplomatic Service and various political parties including Plaid Cymru and the Welsh LIberal Democrats. Many items are undated.
