Cardiff demonstration: June 28 1986,
Material relating to a WAAM demonstration held in support of the Charter '86 campaign for sanctions against South Africa. Contains letters from the WAAM Secretary regarding the organisation of the event, AAM campaign briefings, printed items, and copies of messages from Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and also the Rt. Hon. Neil Kinnock, MP, to be read out at the demonstration.
Material relating to calls for the implementation of economic sanctions against the Apartheid regime in South Africa, and the activities carried out at local and national levels in support of sanctions through the AAM "Isolate Apartheid South Africa: Sanctions Now" campaign and the organisation of a mass lobby of Parliament for sanctions against apartheid on 17 June 1986. Material includes letters, reports, memoranda, seminar and campaign papers, strategy papers, briefing documents, fact sheets, action plans, printed speeches and press releases. Printed circulars sent by the Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) Central Office and the African National Congress (ANC) to Wales Anti-Apartheid Movement (WAAM) members. Also circulars distributed by WAAM to its members and affiliates. The circulars are mainly routine in nature, comprising notices of committee meetings, membership renewals and information relating to specific campaign activities or sponsored events.

Material relating to campaigns organised by the Anti-Apartheid Movement calling for the support of consumer boycotts and sanctions against South African goods and services, such as the national campaign "Boycott Apartheid '89", as well as activities in South Wales focusing on boycotting local shops selling South African goods. Files may include letters, reports, newsletters, briefings, press cuttings and promotional material, and campaign packs.
Letters received by WAAM in response to the petitioning of local stores and businesses regarding the sale of South African consumer goods, and similar activity carried out by affiliated organisations such as Cymdeithas Yr Iaith Gymraeg and the Barry Anti-Apartheid Group.
Correspondence with a wide range of companies, organisations, public officials and individuals regarding anti-apartheid matters in general, and also relating to specific WAAM boycott and campaign activities.
