Printed material published by the AAM, the ANC, the UN, and others, on a variety of subjects including apartheid in South Africa, UK trade with South Africa, trade unions in South Africa, human rights and Namibia's struggle for independence. Also a collection of protest songs collected and used by members of WAAM in their campaign and fundraising activities.

Committees and membership,

Membership records of the Wales ARA and material relating to the activities of several national and local committees and groups. Committee papers may include meeting notices, agenda, minutes and related reports and papers.

Boycotts,

Wales Anti-Apartheid Movement (WAAM) correspondence with UK and international organisations and groups relating to consumer and sports boycott activities carried out by the organisation, most of which relates to rugby tours of South Africa.

Circulars,

Printed circulars sent by the Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) Central Office and the African National Congress (ANC) to Wales Anti-Apartheid Movement (WAAM) members. Also circulars distributed by WAAM to its members and affiliates. The circulars are mainly routine in nature, comprising notices of committee meetings, membership renewals and information relating to specific campaign activities or sponsored events.

Conferences and speeches,

Material relating to national and international conferences organised by, or attended by, the AAM or the WAAM. The conferences mainly relate to anti-apartheid policies, particular anti-apartheid campaigns, and race relations in general. See file-level descriptions for individual printed speeches presented at conferences, hearings or seminars.

Reports and briefings,

Printed reports and briefings distributed by the AAM, ANC and WAAM informing members and affiliates of anti-apartheid campaign activities, challenges to national legislation and policy, and current events in Southern Africa. Also some notes by WAAM Secretary, Hanif Bhamjee.

ACTSA campaigns and events,

Material relating to ACTSA and ACTSA Wales campaigning activities covering a range of areas including health and medicine, consumer goods, economic development in South Africa, peace in Angola, fair democratic processes in Southern African countries and raising the profile of these issues with UK politicians. File also contains papers relating to various events such as Nelson Mandela's visit to the city of Cardiff where he received the Freedom of the City.
