Plas Power Estate Records and Papers
Print preview View:

Local government,

Administrative records relating to the work of public bodies, including the Church of England but not including law courts, apparently accumulated by the Myddelton, Lloyd and FitzHugh families in the course of their public duties. Bonds and wills have been filed here because it has not been possible to separate those that concern the Plas Power estate from those that do not.

Maps of Bodfari, Wrexham and Minera,

A map, 1758, of William Lloyd's estate in the parish of Bodfari, together with a map and index, 1759, of his estate in the parish of Wrexham and the township of Minera, and a letter, 1808, concerning the enclosure of land in Minera. While not explicitly industrial, these maps were found with industrial papers, suggesting that they were used in identifying areas for mining and other industrial development.

Mary Myddelton's purchase of Plas Power,

Financial and legal papers accumulated by Thomas Davies, clerk and attorney acting for Mary Myddelton, relating to her purchase of the estate, including letters, rents, accounts, bills, valuations, receipts, legal opinions, deeds and abstracts of deeds.

Memoranda,

Memoranda relating to a wide variety of estate business, particularly relating to agreements, tenancies, rents, legacies and debts, and also including agricultural and maintenance accounts and tenants' petitions; the context in which these documents were found suggests that many of them were originally created for estate purposes and subsequently brought together as a consequence of being used for the purposes of evidence and record during numerous legal proceedings, while others were drawn up by lawyers during cases.

Merionethshire,

Deeds and leases concerning land in the county of Merioneth (including the townships of Bala, Betws, Ciltalgarth, Corwen, Cynwyd Fawr, Cynwyd Fechan, Faerdre Isaf, Faerdre Uchaf, Garn, Gwelwar, Gwernefail, Gwyddelwern, Llandrillo yn Edeirnion, Llanegryn, Llanelltud, Llanendwyn, Llanfachreth, Llanfor, Llanfihangel, Llangywer, Llannerchfydaf, Llansanffraid Glyndyfrdwy, Llanycil, Llanymawddwy, Llanuwchllyn, Maentwrog, Maestran, Mawddwy, Nannau, Penaran, Pennant, Pennant Edeirnion, Pennant-lliw, Pennant Mawddwy, Prys, Rhyd-criw, Tir Llannerch, Trawsfynydd, Tyfos and Ucheldre), together with bonds of obligation made by persons resident in the county. A few of the deeds also concern land in Caernarfonshire (including the townships of Aberach, Beddgelert, Botach, Caernarfon, Conwy, Cricieth, Dwygyfylchi, Llandudno, Llanfihangel, Llanllyfni, Llanwnda and Nefyn).
