Unattributed sermons etc,

A few notebooks and a mass of unbound material containing unidentified 18th and 19th century sermons, sermon notes etc. in Welsh and English. Some of the sermons were preached in the following places and at the following times: St Ishmaels, 1770-1814, Llanfrynach, 1791, Mydrim, 1795, Cantref, 1797, Pembrey, 1798-1807, Llanelli, 1802-1810, Llangattock, 1803-1819, Cardigan, 1813, Manordeifi, 1818-1819, Capel Colman, 1818-1837, Carmarthen, 1819, Llangoedmore, 1831-1839, Llandygwydd, 1833, Llanllwchaiarn, 1837-1861, and Cenarth, 1839-1845, and Wellington, 1757-1765, Little Hereford, 1774-1776, Ashford Carbonel, 1774-1776, Wallington, 1824, Creaton, 1834-1837, Swinstead, 1837, etc. Some of these sermons were originally preserved with the sermons of Rhys Jones Lloyd, Troedyraur (NLW MS 15872), and the parcel was endorsed by D. An essay by D. Pryse Williams on 'Hanes Cenarth, yng nghyd a Thref Castell Newydd Emlyn, a hen Fwrdeisdref Trefhedyn', which was awarded a prize at an eisteddfod at Newcastle Emlyn in 1902, under the adjudication of Sir John Rhys. Formerly D. Pryse Williams MS 1.

Miscellaneous unbound material of south Cardiganshire interest collected by D. Pryse Williams, being largely notes towards his essay on the history of Cenarth [cf. NLW MS 15623]. They contain extracts from parish records; abstracts and transcripts of public records; notes on tithes, education and Newcastle Emlyn postmasters; pedigrees; biographies of residents and anecdotes associated with them; notes on old houses; accounts of the Baptists of Drefach; biographies of Benjamin Thomas ('Myfyr Emlyn'), Benjamin Williams ( 'Gwynionydd') and others torn from an earlier essay (pp. 103-4, 136-141, 177-186); and a photograph of the entry in the Order Book of Carmarthenshire Quarter Sessions of the registration of Ty Mawr, Newcastle Emlyn, for worship by the Baptists, 1776.
