She has written to Mr Robert A. Hudson enclosing a resolution (A1/271a) to be considered at the next executive committee of the National Liberal Federation. Hopes that D. A. Thomas will use his influence to help to secure a favourable reply. The aim is to secure recognition for the work that women are doing for the Liberal cause everywhere. The resolution (A1/271a) expressed the wish that a woman speaker representing the Women's Liberal Federation should speak at the evening meeting of the National Liberal Federation at Cardiff on 18 January 1895.

He is a student at Bonn University collecting material for a thesis on the British foreign trade in coal. One of the most important publications on the subject is the paper which D. A. Thomas read to the Royal Statistical Society in November 1903. He has found it impossible to secure a copy, and so is writing to D. A. Thomas.

Enclose a copy of a resolution passed by a recent meeting of the Cardiff Cymmrodorion Society (A1/7a). They request D. A. Thomas to bring the matter to the attention of the appropriate authorities. The resolution refers to 'the great injustice of compelling Welsh witnesses to give their evidence in a foreign language in our courts of justice. ... It is full time that the judicial bench in Wales should be occupied by judges who are conversant with the language of the people'.

At a meeting of the Cardiff Cymrodorion held on the previous Friday a resolution was passed protesting against the action of the Directors of the London and North Western Railway Company in dismissing several employees on the grounds of their inability to speak English. It requested the Welsh MPs to block all parliamentary bills promoted by the Company until the grievance be redressed. The meeting requested D. A. Thomas to do his utmost to help to effect this.

The Return will give the information for Monmouthshire. Asquith is arranging to have a new resolution substituted.

The application of Mr James Davies for a position will be given due consideration when the opportunity arises. At present there is no vacancy for an Inspectors' Assistant or a Factory Inspector. There are very many applicants for both appointments.
Two members of the Association have been sued by the Pharmaceutical Society for selling a patent medicine known as 'Porrells Balsam of Aniseed'. Has discovered that they had both been properly licensed by the government. The two gentlemen are Mr D. Davies JP and F. W. Mander, the High Constable of Aberdare.
He has been requested by the Executive of the Aberdare District Grocers' Association to ask D. A. Thomas to support the second reading of the amendment bill to the Sale of Food and Drugs Act (1875) on the following Tuesday. The Foreign and Colonial Meat Bill has also been introduced; discusses the provisions of the measure. Hopes that D. A. Thomas will exert himself to ensure the defeat of the measure on its second reading. Will send D. A. Thomas a formal resolution on both subjects after the Association meets on Monday night.
