Lecture notes on John Parry ('Bardd Alaw'), delivered in April 1920; together with lecture notes on Joseph Parry delivered at Holywell, November 1941.

'Welsh National Music'

A bundle of notes entitled 'Welsh Nat. Music', comprising extracts from Seren Gomer, 1819-1849, notes on the history of the Gwyneddigion, 'penillion' singing, and a list of Welsh airs which appeared in Y Cerddor, 1893. A summary of contents of Cambrian Minstrelsie, 1893-1895, is also included.

Lloyd Williams's own compositions and also to various aspects of the musical life of Wales. Letters from some correspondents appear in more than one series.

Folk songs and Welsh Folk-Song Society

Correspondence relating to folk songs in general and individually, and to the work of the Welsh Folk-Song Society, consisting of letters to J. Lloyd Williams mainly in his role as editor of the Society's Journal. Letters addressed to other members of the Society, which had been forwarded to J. Lloyd Williams, are also included. Songs are often enclosed with letters.

Original or copy letters, 1911-1940, from J. Lloyd Williams, mainly relating to his work as editor of the Welsh Folk Song-Society Journal. The addressees include Mary Davies (28), A. P. Graves (2), Hughes & Son (2), Dora Herbert Jones (4), Ruth Lewis (12), and W. S. Gwynn Williams (2). They include copies of letters, 1915 (to Mary Davies), 1921 (to Mary Davies and Ruth Lewis) and 1936 (to the Executive of the Welsh Folk-Song Society), tendering his resignation as editor of the Society's Journal; together with a few miscellaneous items, including notes relating to letters sent to Mary Davies and A. P. Graves, 1908-1909.

Grutchfield and William Evans ('Wil Ifan'). A notebook listing names and addresses of 'Cerddor Contributors' is also enclosed.

General correspondence

Correspondence, 1899-1945, reflecting the various aspects of J. Lloyd Williams's interest in the music of Wales. Amongst the topics discussed are singing festivals, lectures, concerts, broadcasting and the publication and performance of his own works. Some letters also include references to Y Cerddor, and to the work of the Welsh Folk-Song Society.
