Bardd Alaw

Lecture notes on John Parry ('Bardd Alaw'), delivered in April 1920; together with lecture notes on Joseph Parry delivered at Holywell, November 1941.

Autographs and photographs

A volume of autographs, greetings and verses, 1901-1920, presented to J. Lloyd Williams by members of Bangor University Welsh Company ('Cwmni Cymreig Coleg y Brifysgol, Bangor') in recognition of the pleasure and experience which they had received during performances of Aelwyd Angharad and Cadifor, 1901-1902. Four photographs, apparently relating to performances of Aelwyd Angharad, are also included.

'Are the Welsh Musical?'

Press cuttings, [1921x1939], relating mainly to the history of music in Wales, including a series of articles on 'Are the Welsh Musical?', 1931, by T. Hopkin Evans; press cuttings concerning the 'Welsh Week' at the Wembley Exhibition in 1924; and lecture notes and quotations relating to the virtues of Welsh as a language for singing.

Evans, T. Hopkin (Thomas Hopkin), 1879-1940

Aelwyd Angharad

Manuscript and printed scores, together with related correspondence and papers, 1899-1938, relating to the cantata 'Aelwyd Angharad' by J. Lloyd Williams, words by Llew Tegid.

Accumulated manuscript volumes

Manuscript volumes, previously in the possession of musicians, collectors or precentors, and accumulated by Dr J. Lloyd Williams. Many were evidently acquired by him from J. H. Davies, Cwrt-mawr, and contain mainly folk songs and hymn tunes, recorded in eighteenth and nineteenth century Wales.

Accounts

Personal financial accounts and papers, including some accounts relating to the sales of publications, broadcasting fees and lectures, and a few items, 1929-1932, relating to Bronant, his Bangor home.
