Commonplace book,

A small commonplace book which belonged to George Eyre Evans and which was apparently kept between 1871 and 1873, containing: puzzles, riddles, sayings, &c.; details of how to prepare various colours from a mixture of chemicals entitled 'Coloured Fires'; a French rébus after the battle of Sedan; as well as personal memoranda, &c. The covers of the manuscript appear to be hand painted. English; French. Formerly George Eyre Evans Bequest MS 159.

Birthday book,

A copy of The Longfellow Birthday Book edited by Cecilia M. Dixon, and which is inscribed 'George Eyre Evans from his Friend Mrs. B. Mardon August 1879'. English. Formerly George Eyre Evans Bequest MS 160.

A register of books lent by George Eyre Evans from his private library to members of the public in Whitchurch, co. Salop., together with a few items of correspondence concerning the lending scheme, including four letters from J. Wycherley, postmaster of Whitchurch.
