Miscellaneous papers

The section consists of miscellaneous, mainly stray, items acquired mainly by O. M. Edwards during the course of his life and career. They include letters; civil registration certificates; academic certificates and distinctions; tributes to Edwards upon his death in 1920; local history materials relating to Llanuwchllyn; miscellaneous notes; printed items and press cuttings.

Certificates awarded to O. M. Edwards

The file includes mainly academic certificates and distinctions awarded to O. M. Edwards during the course of his career, printed copies of his applications for posts, together with testimonials.

Printed miscellanea

The file contains miscellaneous printed items including extracts from journals, programmes of events, annual reports etc.

Miscellaneous bills and receipts

The file comprises various bills and receipts to O. M. Edwards, many from hotels and guest houses, others for travelling. There is also a group of bills, 1919-1920, from Lincoln College, Oxford, where Ifan ab Owen Edwards was a student.

Press cuttings

The file consists of press cuttings, mostly relating to Welsh matters, some concerning O. M. Edwards's life and career.

Christmas cards

The file contains miscellaneous Christmas cards addressed to members of the Edwards family.

Oxford miscellanea

This file, which came to light after the rest of the O. M. Edwards Papers had been catalogued, contains stray items assembled by Edwards while at Oxford. They include menus for formal meals at Pembroke College, invitations to events, and details of students' performance in examinations.

Board of Education Correspondence

The file includes letters from R. L. Archer, Sir Alfred T. Davies (3), the Revd Peter Hughes Griffiths, Major Edgar Jones, Barry, Owen Griffith Owen ('Alafon') (2), and Thomas Richards MP.

Notebooks

The series comprises notebooks kept by O. M. Edwards as Chief Inspector of Schools in Wales, 1907-1920, recording details of his visits to Welsh schools: classes, teachers, notes on individual subjects taught, and premises and equipment. There are also some general observations and recommendations.
