100 photographs by A J Sylvester. The majority are of David Lloyd George's trips to Europe in 1929. One of these was a cruise along the coast from Cannes to Naples in January. The other trip was by motor car through Belgium and France to the Italian Lakes. Others are of family members and different groups.
100 modern photographs prepared from the original negatives of A J Sylvester. Many are of David Lloyd George's yachting cruise from Cannes to Naples and back in January 1929. Others include stills from a cinefilm of D Ll G at Berchtesgaden in 1936 and the visit of his Secreteriat to Churt in 1941.
Photographs of David Lloyd George's cruise on 'Sabrina' in 1929, on board another ship (s), on the way to or from Brazil. In Dec 1927 David Lloyd George and various family members sailed oon the Blue Star Line steamship 'Avelona' to Brazil. Their return was on her sister ship 'Andalusia' (re-named 'Andalucia Star' the following year). As the two were sister ships it is not possible to determine which photos were taken on which leg of the trip.

Gwilym Lloyd George standing in the doorway a concrete pillbox. On page 187 of 'The Real Lloyd George' A J Sylvester writes "We motored rapidly through Belgium and passed over the battlefields again, this time visiting dug-outs which Gwilym had occupied during the war..." This may be one such dug-out.
Landscape format photo of David & Margaret Lloyd George sitting on the deck of a ship. Both are sitting on reclining chairs, and swathed in blankets. Margaret is reading a broadsheet newspaper, David Lloyd George appears to be writing. On page 160 of 'The Real Lloyd George' (London, 1947) A J Sylvester writes "As usual, he wrote these in his own hand whilst sitting wrapped up in rugs on the deck." This photo is believed to be from his 1927-8 visit to Brazil and taken aboard the Blue Star Liner 'Avelona.'
A group photo of the two Lloyd George's taken outdoors flanked by an unidentified couple. The presence of Richard and the nature of the landscape suggest this to have been taken on the 1928 visit to Brazil.
