The series comprises material relating to the publication of The Roman Quarry, including typescript drafts of René Hague's Commentary, typescript copies of the poems for publication, manuscript poems which were not included in the volume, and related correspondence.

They include an article by David Jones about going to war, his reply on receiving the Hawthornden award, his speech in absentia when receiving his honorary degree from the University of Wales, Bangor, and a review by him of Rejoice in the Lamb. There are also papers relating to The Anathemata, 'Art and Democracy', The Sleeping Lord, Epoch and Artist, 'The Tutelar of the Place', The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, In Parenthesis, and 'A,a,a, Domine Deus'.

Assembled biographical material
The series comprises biographical material assembled by René Hague for Dai Greatcoat, including letters or copies of letters from David Jones to Stanley Honeyman, T. S. Eliot, W. H. Auden, René Hague, Jim Ede, Desmond Chute and Tom Burns; a transcript of an interview with David Jones, and letters to and from René Hague relating to the publication of the book.
James Jones and other family papers
The series comprises papers relating to David Jones' father, James Jones (1860-1943), a native of Holywell, Flintshire, who was a printer's overseer for the Christian Herald and was also a lay reader at St. George's Church, Brockley. Also papers relating to David Jones' mother, Alice Ann née Bradshaw (d. 1937) and her family. She was from the Pool of London area, and had produced watercolours. Also letters to David Jones from his father and sister, marriage certificates and other family documents, and papers relating to the arrangement of funerals for family members.
The series includes two broadcast scripts of In Parenthesis which was adapted for radio and produced by Douglas Cleverdon. It was broadcast four times on the BBC Third Progamme, together with specially composed music by Elizabeth Poston. The first broadcast script is for 1942 and the second [1946]. The series also includes a manuscript and typescript copy of David Jones' introduction to the broadcast, [1946] and [1964]. Also there is a script of a programme about Welsh poetry, 1943, in which a selection of In Parenthesis was read. There are cover notes by Harman Grisewood in each file.
