Davidson and James Griffiths) and two photographs of General Miaja (B1/25-26). B1/25 is autographed: 'al camarada James Griffiths cordialmente El General José Miaja Madrid 19.1.38'.

Describes the scenery on the journey from Perpignan to Barcelona. Has received a 'splendid reception'. 'Everyone seems cheered up by the victory at Teruel'. Gives travelling plans and gives names of the members of the delegation. Hopes to meet the 'PM'. 'Life goes on here quite cheerfully they are marvellously plucky and in good spirit' .

Letter from James Griffiths, at Madrid to Mrs Griffiths,

Has arrived at Madrid where the delegation was received at the Presidencia, the Prime Minister's residence. Has seen the Reserve Trenches. 'It is a wonderful experience - there are scores of indelible impressions on my mind. I have seen War - nearly at first hand and it is terrible and yet the marvellous thing is Life goes on... They will not give way - their spirit is indomitable. Their confidence grows everyday. The morale of the soldiers and people is truly marvellous and this will earn them thro...'.
