Llwyn deeds

Recovery by Anne Humffreys, widow, William Humffreys, esq., Peter Price, esq., and Catherine Price, at the Montgomeryshire Spring Sessions, of the manor of Brithdir in Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant and Llanwddin, the manor of Cilceirenydd otherwise Trefeglwys in Trefeglwys (100m., 20 tofts etc.), the rectory of Trefeglwys and its tithes, a moiety of the tithes of Llanfair, and "the advowson of the vicarage of the church of Trefeglwys in the several parishes of" Llanfyllin, Llangurig, Llandinam, Trefeglwys, Manafon, Berriew, Meifod, Guilsfield, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Llanwddyn and Llanerfyl, 1781; conveyance by Erasmus Alvey Darwin, esq., and others to James Hardy Wrigley, esq., of Garthgell and Pentalog farms (450a.) and Bwlchycocksydd farm (39a.), all p. Llanfyllin, and covenant for the production of deeds, both 1851 [William Humffreys, esq., and Rebecca otherwise Beck Humffreys, widow, both of Llwyn, were parties to the deeds]; draft conveyance by Rev. Andrew Bennet to John Dugdale and his trustee of Cefn Gribbin Farm (10a.), Belan Farm (10a.) and Rhiwfawr Farm (9a.), all formerly part of the commons of Llanfyllin and Mechain Uwch Coed, 1852; conveyance of the Llwyn estate by John Dugdale to John Marshall Dugdale, 24 June 1889 (attested copy, 1907).

Bencliff Hall, p. Eccles, co. Lancs

Original bundle of mainly attested copies of papers relating to the descent of the Bencliff Hall estate, including attested copies of the wills of Rev. Thomas Valentine of Frankfort, co. Sligo (dated 1763, proved 1766), Samuel Valentine of Freetown, co. Bristol, Massachusetts, yeoman, 1781, and John Partington of Bencliff House, p. Eccles, co. Lancs, gent., 1813; conversion of the reversionary interest of premises in Bencliffe otherwise Bentcliffe Hall, p. Eccles and in Pendleton, co. Lancs, between Thomas Valentine of the said Freetown, mariner, and John Partington of Garratt, Manchester, co. Lancs, dyer and printer, 1794; and other deeds, 1796-1814.

Original bundle of deeds and papers, including affadavits and certified copies of baptisms, marriages and burials relating to the title of Llwyn, 1826-1832; surveyor's account for the Irwell Bank estate, Pendleton, 1863-1864; vestry minutes and letters relating to the new road from Llanfyllin to Penllwyn Bridge, 1889-1921; a faculty to erect a lych gate at Llanfyllin parish church, 1925.

Captain Johann Jurgen Dunken, dec.

Letters, accounts and other papers relating to the Captain Dunken's estate. Includes probate of the will of Captain Dunken, 'native of Lieben in Courland a citizen of the city of Hamburgh (will, 1832) and 'late of Macao in the East Indies deceased' (probate), a memorandum of the baptisms of John and Catherine Edwards of Arddynwynt's children, p. Mold, 1789-1805, an affadavit relating to the children, including Mary (afterwards Mrs Dunken), 1861, and most of the documents marked A-S referred to in the affadavit.

Dunken (d. 10 Aug. 1833) was commander of the ship 'Reform' of Hamburg. John Dugdale (d. 29 July 1855) of Dugdale & Bros, Manchester, was one of Dunken's executors.

John Marshall Dugdale

Personal papers of John Marshall Dugdale (1851-1918), comprising university certificates that Johannes Marshall Dugdale satisfied the requirements of the examiners in various subjects, 1870-1873, marriage service of J.M.D. to I.H., 1876, and newspaper obituaries, 1918.

William Marshall Dugdale

Personal papers of William Marshall Dugdale (1881-1952), including birth and marriage certificates, twenty-first birthday speech, warrants as DSO, 1918, deputy lieutenant for co. Mont., 1945, and Order of the Bath, 1946, and order of funeral service, 1952. Also other marriage and funeral orders of service, 1918-1952, and invitations and programmes relating to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in London, 1897, and George VI and Queen Elizabeth's visit to Caernarfon, 1937. Also summary farm and private accounts, 1919-20 and 1921-22, three Chirk Castle shoot cards, 1927-1934, and a Llangedwyn estate shoot card, 1935.

Irish home rule commonplace book

Commonplace book relating to Irish home rule, including precises of speeches by Max O'Rell, Justin McCarthy MP, S. C. Buxton MP; the heads of the Government of Ireland Bill; newspaper cuttings; the platform of the first meeting of the Home Rule Party, May 1870; and poems.
