Copy letter, from Maria Williams to Jane Sherwood. She says they had no intention of adopting Johnnie and that Stephen is scarcely ever at home. They had only one resident pupil and have decided not to have any more. Refers to financial help from Mrs S. M. James who had her board instead of interest, and to money left to her by the 'aunts next door' and Aunt Emma Bowring.
