Llanfair P. G. / Aberystwyth / Ploubalay. Criticises the standard of printing of the proofs of the adjudication by Y Genedl [A/1743], but he is later relieved to learn that these are for [E.] Vincent Evans [A/1744]. He apologises that he has not been able to submit any articles on books which he has read to Y Goleuad; and suggests that copies of the paper be regularly exchanged for Y Beirniad [A/1745]. The writer expresses his sadness at the criticism of Lloyd George in Y Genedl, and EMH's devout respect for English liberalism. He also notes a mistake in a heading from Y Genedl, 'Araeth Mr Asquith', which should be spelt 'araith', and explains the grammatical principle behind this correction [A/1746]. Caersws. She regrets that she is unable to be of great assistance to EMH, who is writing a biography of her late brother.

Oswestry. She responds to EMH's notes in the Post regarding the 'gwialen fedw' [birch rod], and other reminiscences, enclosing newspaper cuttings about 'Sadler's Welsh' [concerning the Welsh cast at a performance by the Sadler's Wells Company, in 1942, of 'La Traviata' - A/1782a], 'When cattle were shod' [A/1782b], 'Strawberry Girls' [girls from Wales and Shropshire who picked the fruit from London garden - A/1782c], Cardiganshire girls who weeded parks and private gardens in London each spring and summer [A/1782d], and an epitaph on the grave of John Davies, in Llanfihangel Ystrad [A/1782e].

Caernarvon. Criticizes the [Rt Hon. Sir E. J.] Ellis Griffith, Bt, and EMH for praising the baronet in his articles [A/1802]. He reminisces about his last conversation with Thomas Darlington, in the light of EMH's observations in Y Genedl [A/1803]; and informs him, following an appeal in the above paper, that notes on David Williams are included in Eminent Welshmen, by the Rev. Robert Williams [A/1804]. Welsh.

Nevin. He fears that there is one view in Lleyn and Eifionydd, the Eifl, which is in danger of being spoiled by the effects of the slate industry on the mountain. As 'Celt' occasionally refers to the society which protects the beauty of Wales, he hopes that he will draw their attention to this matter. Welsh.

Llanberis. In response to EMH's occasional articles on Pothmadog ships, the writer encloses a newspaper cutting [A/1864a], found in his grandmother's old Bible (dated May 1876), of a poem by 'Mair Eifion' [Mary Davies, (1846-82), Porthmadog] entitled, 'Cudyn Gwallt Fy Mhlentyn', presented to the wife of the captain of the 'Catherine Griffiths', a ship that was wrecked off the Scilly Isles. Bangor. Informs EMH of references he has come across relating to E. G. Salesbury, whom he mentioned in his notes in the Daily Post. English and Welsh.

Borth-y-Gest / Benllech. The writer pays tribute to his son-in-law, Capt. D. R. Morgan, whose death was recently announced in the Daily Post, and would appreciate a few words about him by EMH in his column [A/1883]. RJ sends EMH a copy, in his own hand, of Capt. Jones's (Master of Caernarvon Castle) diary [A/1885a], containing an account of the occasion when his ship caught fire, for twenty-five days, whilst at sea, which EMH may consider of interest [A/1885]. He recalls his sailing days, and encloses a manuscript of his 'Recollections of my early days. Portmadoc' [A/1886a].

Holyhead. The writer thanks EMH for his consent, but the excellent article [possibly by EMH] on Lewis Edwards had to be omitted from the book, which will be presented to the widow of John Puleston Jones. R.W.J. also informs him that a meeting has been held at the Town Hall in Holyhead that evening to establish the Society of Cymmrodorion. Welsh.

Gwersyllt. He has written down from memory, the lyrics of the song 'Impossible child', which was sung about 1889 at a concert at Ystrad Meurig School by Charles Davies; see A/1443 above. English and Welsh.

He discusses his own application for a post in Aberystwyth, and offers to write EMH a testimonial should he wish to apply [A/1905]. He has read 'D.R.W.'s book, which the author left for EMH [A/1906]. The writer and his family have safely arrived in Aberystwyth and TGJ describes his work as a cataloguer at the Library [A/1907]. 'Gwenallt'. Gronant. Defends an article he wrote on 'Methodism and Welsh Literature', which appeared in Y Traethodydd, following a remark in 'Nodiadau'r Dydd' in Y Goleuad, stating that the subject has been discussed many times before. Welsh.

Llanrug. The writer invites EMH to chair the forthcoming performance of the Pontrhythallt Drama Society, of which the writer is director and producer [A/2170]. He thanks EMH for broadcasting his (T.J.'s) address to the Cymmrodorion, and enjoyed 'Llwyd o'r Bryn's [Robert Lloyd's] address on the radio. The writer also encloses details about John Dickenson Whitehead of Glangwna, to whom EMH refers in an article on prominent men from the Caernarvon area, and the successive owners of the Glangwna estate; and describes a book he owns which contains references to 'Anthropos' [R. 'Elidir Sais'. London / Cardiff. Thanks EMH for his good wishes on W.H.J.'s new appointment [A/2219]. He requests EMH's advice regarding the attitude to be taken by Wales in a forthcoming series of radio programmes on nationalism in Wales and Scotland [A/2220]. The writer thanks EMH for his account, in the Manchester Guardian, of his [W.H.J.'s] paper [A/2221].

Liverpool. Sends information about the Coedcaedu family, of which, he believes, EMH is a descendant, in response to his article in the Post. Welsh.

Birkenhead. Letter to Mrs Morgan Humphreys, informing her of the tribute to her late father at the recent Liverpool Monthly Meeting of the Calvinistic Methodists, where it was also decided that an appreciation be included in the Calvinistic Methodist notes, and that a commemorative stone be placed on his grave.
