Jones, Edgar,

Barry and Cardiff. E.J. also discusses topics for forthcoming radio talks by EMH [A/1562]. Welsh.

Jones, Elizabeth T. (Mrs 'Llew Tegid'),

Bangor. Relates the story of an old man from Llanuwchllyn, who over a century earlier had attempted to fly, in response to EMH's article in the Post on 'Pioneers' [A/1576]. The writer describes the story of Mr Jaquet (her children's French teacher), a former Vice-Principal of a college in Paris, prior to the 1870 war, who had been condemned to death and escaped to Britain from a convict ship [A/1577]. She comments on the similarity between some of the characters in Sir James Barrie's books, and people she knew, following EMH's remarks on him [A/1578]. The remaining letters are described individually in the former schedule, 'E. Morgan Humphreys Papers, A List', available in hard copy at NLW. Welsh.

Jones, F. Wynn,

North Wembley, Middlesex. Responds to EMH's article in Y Genedl with regard to travelling by car at night, and recalls past journeys around the roads of North Wales. Welsh.

Jones, G. H,

Mountain Ash. He is saddened to hear that EMH is to leave Y Goleuad, and at the loss of the editorial notes, 'Wrth Fynd Heibio', which he greatly enjoys, and suggests that he might establish a new religious paper. Welsh.

Jones, G. W. Madoc,

Honorary Secretary of the Liberal Party of Wales, Denbigh. Responds to EMH's comments in the Post with regard to a potential Liberal revival in Wales, enclosing a cutting of the article [A/1620a], together with a copy of an 'Inquiry into a Liberal Policy for Wales : North Wales', by the North Wales Area Liberal Federation [A/1620b].

Jones, Goronwy,

Prestatyn. Responds to a piece in Y Goleuad, suggesting that Dr T. Jones Parry is a potential candidate for the post of Principal of Bala Theological College, a claim which the writer regards as misleading. He proceeds to relate some particulars about Parry. The reverse of the letter contains a note in EMH's hand of the name, Goronwy Jones, his address and the date of the correspondence. Welsh.

Jones, H. Hughes,

Morfa Nevin. Relates some of his father's reminiscences, including those relating to Napoleon, Parisians eating rats, and Daniel Owen's visit as a preacher to the Vale of Clwyd. Welsh.

Jones, Sir Henry,

Oxford and Tighnabruaich (Argyllshire). Apologises that he is unable to complete the articles which he has promised to write. Welsh.

Jones, J. E,

Joint Secretary, The Lleyn Defence Committee. Caernarvon. The writer encloses copies of letters, on behalf of the committee, regarding the Butlins Holiday Camp, which he hopes EMH will publish. English and Welsh.

Jones, J. Griffith,

Llangefni. Writer notifies EMH of dates when he is available to discuss arrangements for a forthcoming broadcast in the series 'Amryw', in which he (J.G.J.) has been invited to participate; and he also responds to 'Celt's reference in the Post, on the report by HMIs on Welsh in Anglesey schools (as the writer is headmaster at Llangefni). Welsh.

Jones, Professor J. Morgan,

Bangor Independent College and University College of North Wales. Acknowledges EMH's letter to the principal, Dr T. Rees, who is suffering from a severe illness [A/1698], as well as the receipt of the return of EMH's fees for his class at Groeslon, which the writer had miscalculated [A/1699]. English and Welsh.

Jones, J. R,

Betws-y-Coed. Relates a story about the 'hirlwm' (lean period between winter and spring), and reminisces of an afternoon on Mynytho mountain. Welsh.

Jones, J. T,

['John Eilian']. Wrexham / London. Discusses the decline of Yr Efrydydd, including J[ohn] M[orris]-J[ones]'s resignation, and remarks at the poor circulation of Y Cerddor [A/1714]. He inquires about costs to place an advertisement in Y Genedl for the first issue of the magazine, Y Ford Gron, and describes the aims, the intended contents and other matters relating to the new journal [A/1715]. He thanks EMH for his observations regarding Y Ford Gron in the press [A/1716]. The writer offers to publish a new edition of Straeon y Chwarel, which he would like EMH to edit [A/1717]. He acknowledges receipt of EMH's manuscript, 'Wrth Fynd Heibio' [A/1719]. Welsh.
