I have appointed Baha Allah as the officer in charge of the district of Hugli which is attached to the sarkar of Salgam. He has reported to me that the residents and inhabitants of Calcutta, Bhakar and Mitya Garh, etc,. are obstructing him in the execution of his duties and the Naibs of these districts are resisting in the payments of their dues. As they come under your jurisdiction it will be appreciated if you could help in remedying this situation.

I have received your letter stating that an Armenian has complained that he is not being allowed his merchandise loaded on two boats to be transferred on to a government ship and the officials are asking him to pay taxes. This Armenian is not telling the truth. As a matter of fact he left the boats on the night of 8th and 9th of this month and has expressed his satisfaction. I have instructed my men not to load anyone's merchandise on the official ships and these Armenians want to do the contrary. Anyhow, I have written to Nand Kumar to assist these Armenians. I have instructed him also that private merchandise should not be carried on official ships.

I had gone nearly one manzil to welcome the Nawab Sahib but did not get the chance to see him. When we reached Anbuh I came to know that he had asked Rai Munni Lal Jiv and Rai Chakan Lal Jiv and two or three other jam'dars to bring the Chothi Thakurai [younger widow of the deceased Raja] who is also my aunt. When they came back they encamped themselves in the military post near the havali and created a lot of disturbances. I thought I should inform you about all this.
