David Davies: Secretaries' Correspondence,

Letters, 1929-1933, sent out on behalf of David Davies by his various secretraies, on a wide range of subjects, many on political themes and international relations. Some of the letters concern the role and activities of the New Commonwealth Society and David Davies's various publications on international themes.

Political and Montgomeryshire Constituency Papers,

Files A13/1-A13/5 and A13/11-A13/16 comprise correspondence and papers, 1916-43, relating mainly to the affairs of the Montgomeryshire Liberal Association, interspersed with material concerning national political life, mainly the Liberal Party. Files A13/6-A13/10 consist of correspondence and printed material, 1920-25, relating to the work of the Temperance League and similar organisations; correspondence, 1939-43, concerning the Inter Parliamentary Union; various political memoranda, 1918-44, mainly relating to the Liberal Party; correspondence and papers, 1917-27, concerning David Davies's local work as the constituency MP for Montgomeryshire; and a notebook, 1930s, containing drafts of speeches and letters prepared by one of Lord Davies's secretaries. Files A13/16-19 related to the Liberal Party more widely, including the North Wales Liberal Federation and the merger with the South Wales Liberal Federation.

Contains papers on the forthcoming peace settlement, the parliamentary representation of Montgomeryshire and the activities of the Montgomeryshire Central Liberal Association. Many of the letters concern the merger of the county and the boroughs local Liberal associations to form one body and the subsequent 1918 general election in the county.

Political and Montgomeryshire Constituency Papers,

Includes correspondence and papers relating to the political dispute between Clement Davies and Lord Davies in 1938-39, and Lord Davies's attitudes towards national politics. There are several references to the 1943 by-election in the University of Wales parliamentary division. Includes letters from the Rev. Gwilym Davies, 1942, and Ifan ab Owen Edwards, 1942 (2 letters).
