Will not use unpublished MSS: 'You may rest, assured that I have no secret designs whatsoever, with reference to the materials you have been so kind as to place under my custody.'.

John St. Loe Strachey to Levy,

Cannot write a foreword for his book of more than 4-500 words; impossible for him to find an English publisher; suggests he should seek an American publisher. Copy.

Levy to Mrs Strachey,

Criticises her 'slur' on his interest in Senior; important MSS have been returned; plans volume on Senior's views on religion; wishes to avoid a quarrel.

Mrs Strachey to Levy,

Desires him to send a copy of the Senior letter dated 1814, Dec. 9; quotes at length from letter by her husband of March 5, 1912 [F95] which insisted that recipient should not write anything dealing with Senior's private life; demands that he send MS of his book on Senior's religion for her scrutiny; objects to his publishing this without her permission; Oliver Senior now represents the family.
