Original bundle of papers including a letter from Thomas William James of HM slooop [illegible], describing a tempestuous cruise on the coast of Norway, including the taking of a Danish sloop with about 100 casks of herrings, and asking if his uncle could be brought to terms, or could the lease be sold to advantage, June 1809; a memorandum suggesting how to divide Maeslydog, Tanyrallt and Lluastlloye (86a. in all), p. Llangwyryfon, the joint property of William Lewis [of Llannerchaeron], esq., and Rev. Alban Thomas Jones Gwynne [of Mynachdy], Jan. 1810. William Edward Powell v. Hugh Hughes,

Original bundle of papers in a cause in Chancery, comprising bill of complaint, bill of revivoir, supplemental bill, answers and affidavits, between William Edward Powell of Nanteos, plaintiff, and Hugh Hughes of Aberystwyth, defendant, and after his death, against his widow Jane Hughes and his son James Hughes, re. the defendent's accounts as receiver of the Nanteos rents during the plaintiff's minority, praying that defendant(s) furnish accounts relating to the receivership of rents of the Nanteos estate in which office the said Hugh Hughes was appointed by the court of Chancery during the minority and continued in the said office after the plaintiff became 21 years of age until the plaintiff dismissed him in 1813, and praying for restitution of the estate title deeds and manorial court rolls.

Original bundle of deeds relating to a m. and farm named Wernphilip, p. Llanbadarn Fawr, including the marriage settlement of Lewis Williams of Penrhiw yr Hebon, p. Llanbadarn Fawr, gent., and Jane Morris, eldest daughter of Richard Morris of [Kernnoy?], p. Llanfihangel Genau'r-glyn, gent., 1756; and administration of the estate of John Maurice Davies, lieutenant in the 31st Regiment of Foot, bachelor, dec., granted to Jane Davies, widow, his mother, 1798.

Wernfach estate,

Family and estate papers of Edward and David Theophilus of Wernfach, being material relating to properties in p. Llanrhystud owned or occupied successively by several interrelated families, notably Evans, Williams and Cruickshank. The properties are Blaenyresgair, Lluest y Conscience (formerly known as Llain y Gwen Sians and Lluest y Gron Sians), Tryal (also spelt Trial, Treal, Trual), Tyn y Clawdd (formerly known as Ty’r Treflick and Twy-yn-y-clawdd), and Wernfach (also known as Wernnewydd). It appears that the properties’ last owners (and Roberts & Evans’s clients) were Edward and David Theophilus of Wernfach, who were also related to the previous owners and/or tenants. Thomas Johnes of Hafod had been the owner (but not the occupier) of some of these lands, and is a party to several of the earlier transactions recorded in these deeds.
