Edwardes v. Jones,

Papers relating to an action in Chancery between Maria (otherwise Mary) Ann Elianor Edwardes of Bryn Ilar, p. Llanilar, spinster [later David Edwardes and another] (plaintiff) and John Jones and Sarah his wife and others (defendants), and between Maria (otherwise Mary) Ann Elianor Edwardes [later David Edwardes and another] (plaintiff) and Christopher Hall (defendants), relating to the residuary estate of William Lewis (d. 1835), including in p's Llanmddewibrefi and Llangeitho.

Jones v. Jones,

Original bundle of papers in a case in Chancery between Maurice Jones of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, co. Denb., draper, and David Jones of Barmouth, co. Mer., chemist (plaintiffs) and Cadwalader Richard Jones, David Morgan, James Morgan and Ann Parry (defendants) relating to the marriage settlement (dated Sept. 1828) of Richard Tibbot of Llanfyllin, co. Mont., grocer, and Anne Morgan, settling a m. and lands called Tycerrig, a piece of land in t. Llys, and a piece of land in the lordship of Plas Dinas, all in p. Llanfechan, co. Mont., and a moiety and the reversion of the other moiety in dwelling houses and lands called Llandre, p. Llanfihangel Genau'r-glyn, co. Card. The papers include letters, bill of complaint, affadavits and copy minutes of a proposed decree.

Evans v. Evans,

Original bundle of papers in a case in Chancery between Thomas Evans of Trialmawr, p. Llansanffraid, farmer, Thomas Evans of Plasbach in the same parish, farmer, and Jane his wife, John Evans of Llain, p. Henfynyw, ship carpenter, and Jane his wife, and Margaret Evans, Anne Evans, Evan Evans, Elizabeth Evans and Catherine Evans, infants under the age of 21 by Mary Evans of Tynybedw, Llansanffraid, widow, their mother and next friend, against Jenkin Evans of Porthmawr, Llansanffraid, farmer, relating to the residuary estate under the will (dated Dec. 1861) of Evan Evans (d. Dec. 1865) of the said Porthmawr, farmer, dec. In May 1868 it was agreed to put the case to the arbitration of David Morgans of Alltlwyd Farm, David Jones of Llan-non, late master of the 'Dauntless', Evan Evans of Rhydorth and Evan Evans of Llan-non, postmaster, all of p. Llansanffraid, although Jenkin Evans appears to have stalled until at least Dec. 1868.

Williams v. Davies,

Original bundle of letters relating to a case between William Williams and John Davies, without supplying many details. Mrs Williams, the defendant's wife, was the plaintiff's sister. The defendant would prove that his wife was only away from her work for a fortnight during a confinement, and if the plaintiff would not accept the £15 10s. paid into court, Roberts & Evans were to obtain evidence from the defendant's sister, Mrs Jane Williams of Ffos-y-bleiddiaid, Ystradmeurig. A separate writ was issued in a case of Mrs Williams v. Davies. Both were settled by arbitration.

Barrett v. Roberts,

Original bundle of papers relating to a case in Chancery between Osman Barrett (plaintiff) and Lewis Hopkins Roberts and Richard Roberts of 34 Rheidol Terrace, Aberystwyth (defendants), 1880-1883, relating to alleged fraud and misrepresentation in inducing the plaintiff to take a lease in 1879 of a house, Plas Hendre, near Aberystwyth, whose particulars and state of repair were not as described. Also papers relating to a case in the Queen's Bench between Lewis Hopkins Roberts and Richard Roberts (plaintiffs) and Thomas James (defendant) for damages for a diversion of a watercourse in Frongoch lands to raise and puddle clay, before it enters Cefnhendre Hall pond, 'polluted, much the same color as milk', 1880-1881.

Original bundle of papers in a large number of cases in Cardiganshire county court. The papers in a case relating to the schooner 'Sarah Davies', [post Feb. 1879], include copies of the scrip and the Rules and regulations (1869) of the Aberystwyth Mutual Ship Insurance Society (est. 1853).

Smith v. Hamer,

Original bundle of papers in a case in the Queen's Bench between George Timpany Smith of Aberystwyth, auctioneer and estate agent, and Edward Hamer of the Belle Vue Royal Hotel, Aberystwyth, relating to the plaintiff's fee for valuing the furniture and stock in trade of the hotel when Hamer purchased it in Dec. 1880.

Morris v. Evans,

Original bundle of papers in a case in the probate division of the High Court, relating to the will (dated Aug. 1882) of James Evans (d. Oct. 1882) of Cerigllwydan, p. Nancwnlle, farmer, dec., between Mary Morris of Cerigllwydan, spinster, and the executrix named in the will, and Rev. David Evans of Llangain, co. Carm., nephew of the deceased, who had entered a caveat against probate, alleging that the deceased died intestate.

Davies v. Davies & others,

Original bundle of papers in a case in the Chancery Division of the High Court of Justice, between Vaughan Davies, plaintiff, and Sarah Davies, spinster (sued as Sarah Davies, widow), Mary Davies, spinster, Annie Davies (sued as Ann Davies), spinster, Hugh Stephens Richardes, Morris Davies, Morgan Davies and Lewis Lewis, relating to a loan by the National Provincial Bank of England to Rev. David Jenkins, incumbent of Llanychaearn, towards rebuilding the church, and guaranteed by the plaintiff and the defendants. Seven related letters, Dec. 1882-July 1883, found loose, have been added to the file.

Rowland v. Rowlands,

Original bundle of papers in a case in the Queen's Bench between the brothers John Rowland of Llanddewibrefi, horse dealer, and Thomas Rowlands of the Railway Hotel, Tregaron, horse dealer and licensed victualler, relating to debts.
