Typescript copies of letters, Jan. 1882-Oct. 1884, from Stuart Rendel to Sir Grant Duff (1829-1906), Liberal MP for Elgin Burghs, 1857-1881, and Governor of Madras, 1881-1886. Much of the letters describe political life of the day, including events at Westminster, and give Rendel's frank opinions of many of his fellow politicians. There are also references to Rendel's business affairs, Welsh issues, family life and Society events. Extracts from some of these letters have been published in F. E. Hamer (ed.), The personal papers of Lord Rendel (London, 1931).
