Mynegion i farddoniaeth,

Five files of unbound leaves containing titles and first lines of poems by mediaeval Welsh strict metre bards. The bards are arranged in alphabetical order of names and, in their present order, Cwrtmawr MSS 726-7 and Cwrtmawr MSS 728-30 appear to comprise two separate indexes. The compiler - inferentially working on manuscripts in the British Museum - has not recorded the shelf and page numbers of their source material; however, there are some such references and other insets and additions in the hand of J. H. Davies.

Tipyn o Bobpeth,

A volume lettered on the spine 'Tipyn o Bobpeth', being a scrap-book of press cuttings compiled c. 1900-02 by John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'). On two occasions only has the compiler recorded his sources, i. e. Y Cerddor and Y Drych, but inferentially there are many cuttings from the latter. The content is largely literary or biographical and the following examples of titles may be quoted: 'Yspryd beirniadol yr oes' by S. F. Roberts, Pontlliw, 'Hen Bererin Cymreig' [i.e. Daniel L. Jones, New York] by R. R. Brooklyn, N. Y.; 'Ioan Pedr' [i.e. John Peter, Bala]; 'Y lefain Gymreig mewn cerfluniaeth' by [William Davies] 'Mynorydd', London', 'Protestania Llewelyn (Ffugchwedl Gydfuddugol yn Eisteddfod Caerludd, 1887)' by T. J. Powell, Coalburg, O; 'Cerddoriaeth' by Gwilym Williams ('Ap Morgan'), Bellevue, Pa.; 'Talhaiarn [Anerchiad a draddodwyd o flaen Cymdeithas y Brythonwyr ... , Llundain Rhagfyr 12fed 1901]' by [Robert Jones] 'Trebor Aled'; 'Canu' by W. Parry, Rhyl; 'Y Parch. John Owen Jones. Adgofion Bore Oes am y Pregethwr a'r Duweinydd o Slatington, Pa.' by the Reverend Benj. W. Jones, Bangor, Pa.; 'Dylanwad arferion er ffurfio cymeriad' by R. Puntan Davies; 'Y Diweddar Barchedig Edward Davies, (Derfel Gadarn), Trawsfynydd'; 'Marwolaeth Mr Hugh Hughes, Cerrigydrudion'; and 'Y diweddar Barch. Edward Jenkins [Wilkesbarre, Pa.]' by the Reverend J. T. Griffiths.
