A manuscript entitled 'Llyfyr Karoleu Johannes Jones', being a collection of carolau and a ballad written in both the early and late hands of John Jones, Gellilyfdy. Most of the carolau are anonymous but there are some attributed to Howel ap Lle'n, Roesier Kyffin, Edmwnt Prys ('archiagon Meirionnydd'), [Richard White] [See T. H. Parry-Williams (gol.) Carolau Richard White (Caerdydd, 1931)], Edwart Konwy ('o Sychtyn yn Tegeingl ap Edward Konwy'), Elis (ap) Kynrig ap Rissiart Lewis ('or Vanachloc redyn'), Sion Lewis ap Sion Wynn ('o Dowynn Meirionnydd'), Tomas Jones, Mr Rys ap Tomas, Wiliam Mathew, Rhobert Llwyd ('o Gaergybi') Syr Wiliam Dai ap Wiliam Dai Nanklyn, Rhobert Vychan and Sion Dai Meirig. At the beginning of the volume there is an index of first lines in the hand of J. H. Davies. Some of the earlier carols in the volume, among them five by Richard White, were copied during the period 1605-10. Pp. 405-7 of the volume are bound in Peniarth MS 173, 43-5).

A late sixteenth century volume containing 'Gorchymun y Sul', 'Gweledigeth Pawl Apostol', 'Stori Owen Varchoc Da', a carol ('y ddav vroder'), 'y kyfri mwiaf all fod' ('hyd a lled achwmpas yddaiar ai thewdwr'), and riddles ('Pwy a fv varw ac ni aned yr ioed, atep, addaf ...').

A volume largely of poetry in strict and free metres transcribed by John Morris during the period circa 1784-8. Preceding the text is a progressive list ('Tabl') of the 'carolau', 'cerddi', and 'cywyddau' contained in the volume. That the entire volume is based on a variety of sources is shown by the last entry inserted by the scribe: 'Yr ychydig o hen bethau hyn, a godais I allan o hen Lyfrau pan oeddwn mewn oriau Segur, rhag I Colli hwynt ...'. Inside the lower cover are printed 'Englynion Croesawiad Sior IV. 'Trwy Gymru' by [Hugh Jones] ('H. Erfyl'). There are a few minor entries in the hand of Mary Richards.

A collection in several hands of 'cerddi', 'penillion', 'dyrïau' and 'englynion' by Moris Roberts (Morris A Pro[bert]), Hugh Morris, Lewis o Rydonen ('y Mhlwy Llantysilio'), [William Roberts] 'Clochydd Llannor' (1747) and John Edwards (1747), and anonymous poems. A part of the volume may be in the hand of John Jones, 1747. Bound into the volume is a notice, 20 June 1828, from the church-wardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Llanfihangel, Montgomeryshire to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Llangyniew of a proposed appeal against a removal order by the Court of Quarter Sessions. Mounted on the blank dorse of one leaf is a printed prospectus of Y Gwyliedydd [1822].

A collection of 'cerddi', 'carolau', 'penillion', etc. in free metres by Hugh Moris and Rogiar Jones and numerous anonymous poems and scraps of verse. Also included are a rental of chief rents of Cynlleth yr Iarll and a rental of the tithe of Llangadwalader, Denbighshire, both undated, and a medical recipe. A note by Dafydd Marpole in Cwrtmawr MS 225, p. 86 attributes the present manuscript to the last quarter of the seventeenth century. Among later additions to the volume are holograph 'englynion' by Joseph Marpole ('yn llegys'), 1779. The spine is lettered 'Gwaith H. Morys a Roger Jones'.

An imperfect manuscript of poetry and prose compiled by Morrys Oliver, c. 2 May 1685. The poems comprise 'cywyddau', 'englynion' and verses in free metres by Sion Tudur, Rhys Cadwalader, Thomas Lloyd Iangof ('o Penmaen'), Thomas Price ('o blas Iolun'), Edward Morris ('or Perthi Llwydion') and Hugh Llwyd Cynfel, and anonymous poems and fragments. The prose items include 'areithiau' ('Annerch lythur ne araith', etc.) and 'Iachau'r [Achau'r] Cwrw'. There is an inscription in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen.

A manuscript in the hand of David Richards ('Dewi Silin') containing transcripts from Edward Williams ['Iolo Morganwg']: Poems, Lyric and Pastoral, Vol. II (London, 1794), pp. 217-37, of 'An Account of, and Extracts from The Welsh-Bardic Triades', 'Trioedd Braint a Defod', with an English translation entitled 'Institutional Triades', and 'Trioedd Barddas' (incomplete). Beginning at the end are an account of the city of Jerusalem ('History of the Roman Empire', vol. 2, p. 388), dissertations on 'The Resurrection' and on the Principles of Toleration, and extracts from the Salopian Journal, 24 August, 30 November 1825.

A memorandum book of Robert Griffith, vicar of Darowen and justice of the peace for Montgomeryshire, consisting primarily of copies and/or drafts of warrants, parochial settlements, etc., 1780-9, signed by Griffith, and of correspondence with Rob[ert] Jones, Dolwenith, [Rev.] R[ichard] Ellis, Gwynfryn [Llanystumdwy], etc., 1788 (a lawsuit between the two divisions of the parish of Llanllyfni touching rights of common on Rhos y las Mountain), Humphrey Jones, Penrallt, Machynlleth, 1788-9 (the death of Dr Edwards, the hiring of a servant, rejoicings at Darowen to celebrate the King's recovery from his illness, an invitation), Rev. Pasted on the inside upper cover is an invoice-head of Thos Brighouse, Holywell showing an engraving of [St. Winifred's Well].

A memorandum book of Robert Griffith, vicar of Darowen and justice of the peace for Montgomeryshire, containing copies and/or drafts of complaints, examinations, warrants, recognizances, parochial settlements, etc., 1776-85 and undated, together with observations by the scribe and copious relevant extracts from law books. There are also copies of two letters, the one to Wm Turton, Knolton Hall, near Overton Maddock, Flintshire, 1783 (a settlement), and the other from William Davies, Keeper of the Gaol at Montgomery, 1783 (a request for a county allowance for a prisoner).

A manuscript volume mainly in the hand of Thomas Lloyd, rector of Llangynyw, containing tithes and Easter duties accounts and receipts, 1646-76. Most of the accounts are arranged under the townships of Kynninua (Cynhinfa), Gwenunoge (Gwenynog), Mathraual (Mathrafal) and Llangyniew, and under 'Advenae' ('Strangers'). There are also relevant receipts and memoranda, personal and farming accounts, and details of 'The Ancient Custome of Tythinge in the parish of Llangyniew', extracted 1653, from the tithing books of Tho. Jones and William Lloyd [former rectors]. This manuscript is probably the one referred to in Collections Historical Archaeological relating to Montgomeryshire, Vol. XXXIV, p. 228.

A volume mainly in the hand of the Reverend Daniel Evans, rector of Llanwrin, Montgomeryshire, containing tithe accounts for 1874-6. The basic commuted tithe charge and its value for each half year, 1874-6, is given for each holding.

A journal of a tour of Holland, Germany and France undertaken between 16 July and 17 November 1837.
