Schedule of deeds,

A schedule, dated 1889, of deeds and documents (1362-1876) to which Arthur Henry George Vaughan, 6th Earl of Lisburne, was entitled to either as tenant for life under the resettlements, dated 5 April 1884, of the Crosswood estates, or as Executor of Ernest Augustus Mallet Vaughan, late Earl of Lisburne.

Legal precedents; catalogue of deeds,

A volume originally used by J. H. Davies to record some late nineteenth and early twentieth century legal precedents, including an opinion, 3 February [19]05, on the claim for payment of chief rents by freeholders 'in and about' Dinas Mawddwy. Beginning at the end of the volume is a catalogue compiled by Annie J. Ellis, Thomas Iorwerth Ellis and J. H. Davies, c. 1914, of bundles of deeds and documents numbered 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 (Watkins of Moelcerni, Cardiganshire) and dated 1549-1848 in the Cwrtmawr collection of deeds (now in the National Library of Wales and described in detail in a typewritten catalogue (1956)).

Ballads, deeds, pedigrees, etc.

A volume lettered 'Ballads, Deeds, Pedigrees &c. MS', being a collection in the hand of J. H. Davies of transcripts of ballads by 'Daniel Gloff', David Jones (Llanbydder), James Thomas (Llanwenog), William Bowen, 'Prydydd Bach Glan Teifi' and Joseph Jenkins, Trecefel [Tregaron] 'Amnon II') and of 'cywyddau' by Gruff. Llwyd ap Davyd ap Einion, Ieuan ap Rhydderch, Rys Goch O Ryri, and Morys ap Ll'n; transcripts, abstracts, and extracts, largely of genealogical interest, taken from public records, Harleian MSS, the Golden Grove Book and printed sources (e.g. the families of Venables of Llysdinam Hall, Clement of Caron, etc. and Wogan of Wiston, Prydderch of Ystradwallter, etc., Lloyd of Abermâd, Price of Rhiwlas, Nanney of Nannau, Owen of Dolserau, Prys of Plas Iolyn, and Salesbury of Llanrwst); abstracts of Abermeyrick estate deeds and documents, 1552-1796, in the parishes of Nant-gwnlle, Llanddewibrefi, Llanbadarn Odyn, Dyhewyd, Llanerchayron, Lledrod, Llandissill, Bettws Bledrws, Llangybi, Llangeitho, Bangor [Teifi], and Llangynllo and in the lordships of Pennarth and Caron, Mabwnion, and Lligenydd, Cardiganshire, etc. There is a list of contents at the beginning and among a number of insets is a transcript in the hand of John Davies, Lampeter, 1900, of a schedule of estate deeds, 1544-1682, of Dyffrynllynod, Llandyssul in the possession of J. E. Rogers, Abermeurig relating to properties in Bangor, Penbryn, Llanguillo [sic for Llangunllo] and Landissel, Cardiganshire.

A notebook in the hand of J. H. Davies containing an incomplete (Aberayron - Capel y Ffynnon) list of deeds of churches in the South Cardiganshire [Calvinistic Methodist] Monthly Meeting, 'now in the safe at Shiloh Chapel [Aberystwyth] Oct. 25, 1902'; a list of Welsh books arranged in numbered parcels (e.g. A1-23, etc.), and a list of books sent to Speakman, 91 Islington, Liverpool, April 1920.
