Barddoniaeth,

A small volume, originally with clasps, containing 'cywyddau', 'englynion', etc. by Evan ab Evan (lines from Anacreon), Taliesin, Dafydd ap Edmwnt, John Philipp, Richard Philip, Dafydd ap Gwilim, Tudur Aled, John Dafies (Dafis), Owen Gwynedd, W(illiam) Llyn, Sion Brwnog (Brwynog), Dafydd Trefor, Dafydd Llwyd ap Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, Iolo Goch, Thomas Prys o Blas Iolyn Esgwier, Hugh Llwyd Cynfal, Doctor (Sion) Cent, Tudur Penllyn, Edward M[orus], Sr. Morgan, Rowland Vaughan, Hugh ap Ev. ap Ro[ ] and Wmphre David. The contents appear to have been transcribed after 1744 from a manuscript annotated by Lewis Morris, and a note on p. 100 suggests a connection with BM Additional MS 14866, although none of the poems are to be found in that volume. There are a number of quotations in the margins and elsewhere from Pope, Homer, Dryden, etc. At the beginning, in a later hand, are an 'englyn' by Siencyn Thomas Morgan and an 'englyn' which is described as being on the tombstone of the Reverend Alban Thomas of Blaen y Porth, Cardiganshire. A note in pencil on the limp boards which were originally inside the vellum cover reads 'Gwaith hen Feirdd MS from Rev. Armstrong Williams'.

A notebook containing 'englynion', 'cywyddau', etc. by (?) E. Anwyl, Ed. Moris, Rys Cain, Dafydd ab Gwilym, Dafydd Nanmor, Lewys Trefnant, Huw Machno, Edward Urien, Edm : Prys, Roger Cyffin, Huw Arwystl, Morys Berwyn, Ow. Gwynedd, Sr. Owain ab Gwilym, Ifan Llwyd o waun Eingian, Howel Cilan, Mathew Browmffield, Siams Dwnn, 1605, Ifan Tew, Sion Phylip, Rissiart Phylip, Robert Humphreys [1707] (in a different hand) and John Byrchinsha [1707] (in free metre), followed by a list of contents written in a later hand. At the reverse end is the beginning of a Welsh translation of A Practical Discourse concerning a future judgment by William Sherlock, D.D. [pp. 1-11] ('Traethod bucheddol am y farn a fydd (sy' i ddyfod) o waith Wm. Sherloc y D.D.'), followed by englynion by Ed. Morys and Siôn Rhissiart, etc. and a note in pencil by St. G. A[rmstrong] W[illiams], July 8 1886: 'Cannot find a name for this note book, so as to identify it on the Catalogue'. In the list of Cwrtmawr manuscripts it is described as 'Llyfr W. Rowlands, 1700'. J. H. Davies has added in pencil: 'W Rowland see R. Ellis article on Lhwyd' [i.e. Trans. Cymm., 1906-7, pp. 26-8].

A volume of transcripts by St George Armstrong Williams of letters by 'Myrddin' [i.e. the Reverend Eliezer Williams] in Seren Gomer, 21-28 May, 11, 25 June, and 6-27 August 1814, 'Cywydd y Winwydden' by 'E. Llanbedr. Chwef. 1815', of 'Pennillion ar ddechreuad Sosiniaeth yn Lloegr. 1790' [translated by] 'E. W.' (printed in Peter Williams: Tafol Gywir I Bwyso Sosiniaeth ... (Caerfyrddin, 1792), pp. 47-8), 'An Epitaph upon an Astronomer' ('Rhyfeddol mewn rhifyddiaeth ...'), and 'On the Harp new tuned' ('Eos wanwyn yn seinio ...').

Mysteria Kabalae Bardicae,

A manuscript in the hand of Lewis Morris ('Llewelyn Ddu o Fôn; 1701-65) based on a volume entitled 'Mysteria Kabalae Bardicae' and on other sources quoted by the scribe. It contains poetry by Taliesyn, Merddin, Rhys fardd, Gronw ddu o Fon, Ll'n ap Owain, Y Bardd Cwsg, Y Ffreier Bacwn, Robin Ddu, Davydd ap Gwilim, Llowarch Offeiriad, Iolo Goch, Sr Roger y ffeiriad, Huw ap Rhisiart ap Dld, Bleddyn Fardd, Gronwy Gyrriog, Gruffyth Gryg, Alis verch Gryffyth ap Ieuan, Iefan ap Rhydderch ap Ievan Llwyd, D'd Nanmor, Gvttor Glyn, Tvdvr Aled, Sion Brwynog, Gyttvn Owain, Tvdvr Penllyn, Gruffydd Llwyd ap Davydd ap Einion, Simwnt Vychan, Sion Keri, Ieuan ap Tudur Penllyn, Llewelyn ap Guttyn, Lewis Mon, Sion ap Howel ap Ll'n Vychan, Gruff. ap Ieuan ap Ll'n V'n, Rhys Meigen, Deio ap Ieuan Du, Lewis ab Edwart, Gronw ap Ednyfed, Sion Tudr, Bedo Eurddrem, Huw Arwystl, Ll'n Brydydd Hodnant, Robt. There are a few entries by Peter Bailey Williams (1821), and also by St Geo[rge] Armstrong Williams, who has included a short biography of Lewis Morris.
