Fitzroia

A view (underexposed) looking up the trunk of a Fitzroia tree (Fitzroya cupressoides). On page 180 of 'A Wider Sky (Gomer, 1991) KW mentions the Fitzroya trees he viewed at Lago Menendez in the 'Parque Nacional Los Alerces'. These may well be the same trees.

[Lago Verde, Los Alerces National Park]

A weathered wooden fence on the left of the image draws the eye to Lago Verde and the mountains in the distance. KW is believed to have visited this area on December 23rd 1968 - see p 179-180 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991). Slides 4690/19-20 & 22 were taken from the same approximate location.

[Road leading to a fertile valley]

A wide, tarmacadamed road leads to a fertile valley, probably Dyffryn Camwy, in the distance. This may have been taken on the bus journey KW took to Puerto Madryn mentioned on p155 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991)

[Farm, Penmon, Anglesey V]

A farmhouse and outbuildings photographed obliquely from a path approaching from the left hand side. A water pump, stone trough and metal bucket are prevalent in the foreground.

[Farm, Penmon, Anglesey VII]

A farmhouse and outbuildings photographed from across a neighbouring field. In the centre of the photo can be seen Ynys Seiriol (aka Puffin Island). This is the same farm as features in slides 4686/195-201.

[Cnicht]

Cnicht, in shadow and almost silhouetted against the sky, photographed in early spring from a sunlit valley with a stream in the foreground. Photographed from near Pont Garreg Hylldrem on the Beddgelert - Pentrhyndeudraeth road.

[Interior of studio at Cefn Gadlys, Llansadwrn]

A view of the interior of Kyffin's studio at Cefn Gadlys, Llansadwrn. The portion shown appears to be a lounge area with carpet and armchair. The studio, which proved unsuitable, is discussed on page 226 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991).

[Studio at Cefn Gadlys, Llansadwrn]

An oblique view of the large window in Kyffin's studio at Cefn Gadlys, Llansadwrn. The studio, which proved unsuitable, is discussed on page 226 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991).
