Jagged mountain peaks flecked with snow. The lower slopes have a thick cover of vegetation. Probably taken by KW when staying with Don Diego Neill in the Los Alerces National Park. See pages 178-182 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991).

[Two caged pumas]

Two pumas in an enclosure, one sitting, one lying down. Taken on a visit to Senor Nores Martinez residence, Esquel. See p182-183 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) for an account of this visit.

[Puma]

A photograph that would be an excellent close up of a puma if it had been correctly exposed. Taken on a visit to Senor Nores Martinez residence, Esquel. See p182-183 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) for an account of this visit.

[Rhea]

A rhea with its back to the camera in a specially constructed enclosure.

Native horses, Languineo

Five horses, all saddled, waiting for their riders to return.

On page 162 of 'A Wider Sky' (Gomer, 1991) Kyffin Williams recalls seeing horses standing patiently outside a bar at Languineo with huge saddles of sheepskin on their backs waiting for their Indian riders. Languineo is about 150 km from Esquel on the road to Gaiman. Slide 4690/292 is almost identical, though scratched.

[Waterfall]

Looking up at a waterfall cascading over a small escarpment, Los Alerces National Park. See also 4690/195 & 4690/197-198 for other views of the same waterfall.

[Coleg Camwy, Gaiman]

The exterior of a brick built building built on a corner plot. This was the old intermediate school originally founded in 1906. Welsh, English and Spanish were taught at the school until its closure in 1951. Under the leadership of Luned Gonzalez, the school was reopened in 1963, and Welsh has been part of the curriculum to this day.

[Gauchos roping a steer]

In the distance three gauchos are attempting to rope a steer whilst a dog watches on. Slides 4690/268-277 are all of the same event.
