Cyfarthfa Papers,
Rhagolwg argraffu Gweld:

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to William. Crawshay, Jr,

Requests Gwynne's Lease and Agreement to be sent immediately, also furnace and other papers, and estimates and plan relating to the new mill. Mr Taitt wishes the advance in (iron) price to be 40/- per ton, and recipient is urged to bring Mr Hill to the same view; and is instructed to blow in No. 3 furnace, prepare another to follow. Routine business.

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to Benj(ami)n Hall,

Thanks recipient for his acquiescence in the project to erect the Mill at Cyfarthfa; restates his proposals as to recipient's purchase of part ownership of the surplus rents, and requests a statement of recipient's own ideas on the matter.

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to William Crawshay, Jr,

Replying to recipient, declares that if later Hall will sell out, he will attend to it; but at present Hall will not sell, cannot be made to sell, and could not possibly be paid. "I want no war with Hall or anyone just now, I have quite enough to think of to pay this £95,000". An enquiry as to whether another furnace can be blown with present resources, and instructions to deliver as much iron as possible, and other routine works matters.

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to William Crawshay, Jr,

Instructions as to forwarding of Bills for discounting; as to making bars for April and May; and as to stopping the Romney Metal at the end of June and clearing up the Romney Debt, the Canal Debt and other arrears in the meantime. Concerning Hall's character and his attempt to secure the impounded Chancery Moneys' with which the writer dare not trust him, and which by agreement were to be transferred to Bacon in part payment for the Cyfarthfa interests. If Hall will sell out for £50,000 the writer will not wait an hour to call it a bargain.

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to George Chilton,

Informs recipient that all parties have now agreed that the moneys impounded in Chancery should be transferred to Bacon, and instructs him accordingly. Matters connected with payment of Bacon.

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to Sam(ue)l Homfray,

Business and health reasons prevent his attendance at the meeting to discuss the tonnage charged on the River Thames, but he hopes the gentlemen at the meeting will see the propriety of a reduction to enable the South Wales makers to bring their iron to market as well and extensively as the Staffordshire Works.

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to Antho(ny) Bacon,

Advises recipient of the purchase for him of £6,000 worth of "3% Reduced" (Consols?), and of the probable purchase of more. Concerning the Bankside Estate (i.e. Blackfriars Bridge Property) and the impounded moneys.

W(illiam) C(rawshay), London, to Mrs (John) Cousins,

Personal; concerning the disagreement between recipient and Mrs Fay, the possibility of a Chancery Suit, or of buying out Mrs Fay's share in their concern, for which purpose the writer will not lend any money.
