A volume of early Welsh poetry in the autograph of Evan Evans (Ieuan Brydydd Hir), transcribed from 'Liber B' of Dr John Davies of Mallwyd [i.e. NLW MS 4973B]. This, however, is not a complete transcript of 'Liber B ': the first two poems copied by Evan Evans are to be found on ff. 164 verso-167 of the John Davies manuscript, whereas the third and fourth are taken from ff. 288 verso-290 verso. At the beginning are indexes to the place-names and poets mentioned in the text of 'Liber B', with references to the folios on which they occur in that manuscript, and at the end is a transcript of John Davies's own index of first lines. The incomplete list of contents and the annotations here and there in the margin are by Iolo Morganwg. It seems likely that this is a manuscript described by Iolo Morganwg as 'Hen Farddoniaeth yn Llaw Evan Evans' (See G. J. Williams, Iolo Morganwg a Chywyddau'r Ychwanegiad, 1926, p. 175, item 11).

Papers in the autograph of Iolo Morganwg and Taliesin ab Iolo, 1823-1824, relating to the controversy which arose concerning the 'awdlau' of 'Sion yr Almanacwr' [Richard Jones, Merthyr] and 'Rhywun' [Taliesin Williams] on 'Y Dydd Byrraf'. There are copies of both 'awdlau' and drafts or copies of letters to David Saunders, etc. (see also Awen Merthyr Tydfil ... Pump o Awdlau ar y Dydd Byrraf: Testun Cymdeithas Cymreigyddion a Phrydyddion Merthyr Tydfil, yn Morganwg, Dros y flwyddyn 1822 (Merthyr Tydfil, n.d.), and Seren Gomer (1824), pp. 87-8, 170-72, and 368-9).

This is the volume which answers to the description given of C62 in the Schedule of Llanover MSS: 'Autobiography of Iolo Morganwg - Researches at Hafod library - Vindication of Ancient Bards - Triads by Cattwg and others etc. - 320 pages'.

A large bundle of music manuscripts, [19 cent., first ¼], comprising booklets, loose sheets and fragments, containing mainly hymn- and psalm-tunes in the hand of Iolo Morganwg.
Also included is the original card case used by Iolo to store the manuscripts.

Ninety-six letters, [?1868]-1899, from Aneurin Williams to his Mother [Mary Elizabeth Williams], (77) [?1868]-1899, Father [Edward Williams], (16) 1884-1885, and brothers Penry, (1) 8 January 1884, and Illtyd, (2) 15-20 September 1888. The letters are sent mostly from the United States, continental Europe and Egypt.

Seven printed almanacs formerly belonging to Iolo Morganwg. They consist of Trusler's Country Almanack for 1794, and Moore's Almanack Improved for 1814, 1815, 1816, 1821, 1822 and 1826. There are a few annotations by Iolo Morganwg here and there.

An account book of Edward William, senior, containing entries for 1774-1778. There are some loose papers inside the cover.

Sections of a notebook, now in a very fragile state, containing 'particulars of the shipment of goods ... out of and into the 'port' [of Aberthaw] during various periods between the years 1693-1735' (for a transcript see NLWJ, 9 (1955-56), 337-351). The notebook seems to have come into the hands of William Roberts of St Athans (op. cit., p.195), and contains in addition various accounts, 1733-1746, a few memoranda including the names of 'Rioters at Penyvode 16th Ebr. 1727', and (unless this is part of another volume) a copy of the award of the Hon. Edward Stradling of St Don[ats] Castle, Glamorgan, arbitrator in variances between Frances Howard of the parish of Lougher in the said county, relict of Stephen Howard, gent., deceased, and William Roberts of St Athan in the said county, gent., and Hannah, his wife, administrators of the estate of the said Stephen Howard, concerning the personal estate of the said Stephen Howard, and also concerning a tmt of lands with its appurtenances called Penyvoda vawr in the parishes of Lougher and Swanzey, Glamorgan, 29 Aug. 1726. It also contains Latin exercises, etc., added at a later date.

(a) A Sermon in Welsh on Psalm 39, 5. A note on the back of 27 b (below) probably refers to this: 'Welsh sermon Qu ? by Richards of Coetty?'. The hand however resembles that attributed to Thomas Richards of Coychurch (see NLW MS 6518B). Repaired. (b) An account of 'Expence at the Death of Nathaniel Gamage', examined and allowed by Thomas Richards, Clerk, Rosser John, and Richard Gibbon. Torn.

A transcript of 'Hanes 24 Brenin a varnwyd yn benna ac yn wrola or Brutaniaid i Ddeiliad ac i Gwnccwerio', transcribed by Owen Jones in London, May 15, 1779, 'allan o Lyfr Gruffdd Roberts y Meddyg o Ddol-Gelleu yr hwn Lyfr a ysgrifennodd ac a gynullodd Elis Gruffydd Yswain...'.

A theological treatise in the form of a dialogue between father and son. A reference by the son (p. [312]) to Lhuyd's Archaeologia Britannica (1707) - 'you told me yor father was a subscriber to that undertaking'- gives the dialogue an eighteenth century date. It appears to be an original composition, and there is a rough index at the end.
