Letter from E. J. Walsh, Trades Union Officer of the Liberal Party Organization, to Clement Davies, 23 March 1961,

A recent issue of The Metalworker-the Communist Party bulletin for the engineering industry -appealed to shop stewards committees to send a delegate to the Spanish Amnesty Conference. Many feel that the shop stewards delegates will not be going for the Conference alone. A strong delegation will be present from the World Federation of Trade Unions, but the Non-Communist International Federation of Free Trade Unions is lending no support.

Circular Letter from Anthony Coughlan, Organiser of the campaign for the Release of Untried Prisoners, to Clement Davies, 13 March ...,

Circular Letter from Anthony Coughlan, Organiser of the campaign for the Release of Untried Prisoners, to Clement Davies, 13 March 1961. Concerns the continued practice of imprisonment without trial in Northern Ireland. The total number of men thus imprisoned has been reduced from 167 to 17. It was hoped that these 17 would be released after Christmas, and their subsequent imprisonment seems to reflect a desire to preserve the principle of internment. Appeals to Clement Davies to sign the telegram attached.

Letter from Robin A. Hayes, Marlborough, to Clement Davies, 10 April 1956,

Appeals to Clement Davies to read the enclosed ( ) appraisal of the economic situation by 'a representative of the class of pensioners and others living on small fixed incomes'. Would like to know of some solution to this problem. 'What I fully expect is that the forthcoming Budget will once more raise prices and the cost of living to everyone, including the poorest, without stopping the incessant concessions to wage demands'. Does not believe wage and production levels should be linked. Thinks 'a sudden realization of disaster' alone could save the situation, and anticipates the creation of a Coalition Government.
