Lanishen, to the use of Phillip Griffith and his wife for life and thereafter to their children, except Tire Meyrick and ynis vayne, which is enfeoffed to the use of William Griffith and his wife for life, and thereafter to Phillip Griffith and his wife for life, and to their heirs. Recites articles of marriage of Phillip Griffith. and his wife in 1687/8. Release from 1 and 2, to 3, of two tmts. in Monnow Street, Monmouth, situated between the town ditch and Monnow Street (further boundaries described) converted into a gaol, with a Declaration by 3, that the purchase money is Monmouthshire money raised by public tax. Recites that 2 had sold the premises to 1 in 1700 and that 1 had not fully paid the purchase money, that 1 had greatly improved and repaired the premises, and that co. Recites no. 3, that 1 is the heir of the survivor of 3 in no. 3, that the Justices of the Peace had lately erected a new gaol in Monmouth and had ordered the old gaol to be sold at a public auction in Monmouth on 18 Feb., that the J.P.'s had ordered 1 to sell the same and to pay the money to the treasurer of the county.
