Writer addresses recipient on the subject of Mr Loveden's conduct, and particularly with a reference to a letter put in the office at Brecon which has either been lost or intercepted; writer hopes that recipient will prevail upon him to acquiesce in the fine. [Lovedon was being fined following his non attendance at assizes in Brecon following his appointment as sheriff. G. Hardinge was Leading Judge on the Brecon circuit. [R. J. Colyer]].

Writer requests information concerning Mr Joshua James, formerly a clerk to Mr Middleton of Lincolns Inn; he is said to have retired to recipient's neighbourhood about twenty years ago; the old folks who are entitled to the interest on a mortgage transferred to Messrs Castells may be alive. Recipient refuses 'our' tenant the use of a road to a little piece of land, parcel of Nanty Beynon, in a farm which she has lately purchased; she has also cut down and carried away wood growing on this little piece; Lord Camden, who is 'here', will support his tenant, and if recipient makes satisfaction it may prevent trouble.

When he was in Wales, writer requested recipient's aid [? to borrow] ... fifty pounds, for which his father and writer [? would be security]; if recipient can procure him this money, it should be conveyed to the Reverend Mr Jardine, Middle Pickwick, near Chippenham, Wilts; ... of Penywain ... Writer has received the copy; it seems that the present occupier has been instructed what to say; the ?l[ear]ned serg[ean]t has quoted the adjudication on the case of Whitehead v. Fox; writer thinks that the lessee had covenanted not to assign; he would have been with recipient today but for the severe weather; he wishes Mr Jones was completely rid of his troublesome companion. During his visit to recipient's hospitable mansion writer forgot to say that Mr Bishop states that Mr Holford hesitates permitting the road being taken over his land; with the united respects of writer's son and nephew to the ladies, recipient, and his sons.

Writer forwarded the draft of the lease of the Gr[ea]t House for engrossing; he desires the lease from Miss Davies to Dav[i]d W[illia]m Walter, with the addition of the grinding at Glancidrich Mill, beloning to writer, called Melin ycha.

Writer desired his father- and mother-in-law to continue his petition to recipient in regard to his coming free; but recipient's advice is for writer to go off from 'this parts Som[e]where for som[e] time'; writer is quite dissatisfied as recipient had not told him sooner; writer wants to know how the money which recipient receives from the books are to be applied as it is a very great reflection upon him. P.S. Writer also wants to know from what money the £100 for the girl is to be paid.

Mr John Rees of Brynwhyth has purchased a tenement of land of Mr John Mathews of Gwinfe, which tenement was mortgaged to Mr Lewis, the son of John Lewis Bowen; the purchaser proposes paying off the mortgage; the widow of the mortgagee is married again and is recipient's client; writer desires recipient to get her to accept of writer's security for £60 or £80 which he owes to Mr John Rees. P.S. Mrs Tho[ma]s joins writer in compliments to recipient and Mrs Jones.

Writer has given his draft for ... at two months; he will be particular in providing by the time it is due; Mr Evans of Tyrypain waits on recipient with this letter with the drafts. Endorsed are the names of twelve [?jurymen]. Damaged.

Writer has received recipient's letter in regard to the complaint against David Powell, late church warden and overseer of the poor of the parish of Llandingat; the wife of William Bowen of the parish of Mothvey and other parishioners of the parish of Llandingat charge him with having received from them more than was actually upon the assessment roll; writer has written to Mr Arthur Davies upon the same subject; a vestry will fix a day for investigating this business, which is more proper than before writer or any other magistrate; writer expects recipient to assist in settling this matter; the investigation may procure more regulation in future.
