Most of the documents are copies or drafts.

Deeds and other documents recording sales of Wynnstay land in Caernarfonshire and Denbighshire, 1853-1921, Merioneth, 1858-1860, Montgomeryshire, 1853-1897, Salop, 1851-1853, miscellaneous counties, 1840-1938, and London, 1857. Typically the files include draft or copy agreements for sale and purchase, conveyances, auction notices, sale particulars, conditions of sale, requisitons on title, solicitors’ correspondence and maps or plans. There is a further series of abstracts, schedules, requisitions on title, etc. found with the conveyances and probably accumulated for the purpose of the estate sales and purchases [1771x1789]-1881.

Papers deriving from elections in Montgomeryshire, 1863-1877, and in Merioneth and miscellaneous Welsh counties, 1813-1874, in which members of the Williams Wynn family either stood for parliament or were otherwise interested.

Papers mainly from the Denbighshire election of 27 November 1868 in which Sir Watkin Williams Wynn of Wynnstay was the Conservative candidate. The Liberal candidates were Robert Myddleton Biddulph and George Osborne Morgan. The papers comprise poll books, check books of the clerks, and a large bundle of vouchers, bills and correspondence, 1868-1869.

Title deeds and other papers relating to land purchases mainly in Meifod, Montgomeryshire, by Charles Watkin Williams Wynn of Llangedwyn, second son of Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, fourth Baronet, 1582-1837, together with the original schedule compiled in 1849, and an unscheduled deed of Charles Watkin Williams Wynn [the younger] 1853. These deeds were found as a discrete group in six consecutive boxes within the Longueville archive. There is also a single file of financial papers, discovered elsewhere in the Longueville archive, but clearly associated with the purchase of Dyffryn in Meifod and various other monetary matters, 1806-1818.

Title deeds for properties belonging to the Chwaen Isaf and Glasinfryn estates, 1509-1672, in the parishes of Beaumaris, Penmynydd and Pentraeth, Llanbadrig and Llandysilio, Llanddona, Llan-faes, Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll, Llanfair-yn-Neubwll and Treflesg, Llanfihangel Ysgeifiog and Llanidan, Llangoed and Penmon, Llangwyllog, Llanrhuddlad, Llantrisant, and Newborough, together with deeds relating to Penmon Rectory and Millne Hely, and miscellaneous deeds.

Title deeds for the Wynnstay (previously Watstay) estate, mainly lying in the vicinity of Ruabon and Wrexham, Denbighshire. As well as the main Wynnstay estate, this group of deeds incorporates Valle Crucis, Llwynedd and Wrexham Abbot, describing properties in Boiston, Bromfield and Ial, and Bryneglwys, 1348-1494, 1584-1594, 1657-1792; Erbistock, Marchwiail and Overton, 1448-1555, 1637-1792; Gresford and Holt, [1509x1547], 1653-1792; Llanarmon-yn-Ial, 1515-1584; Llandysilio-yn-Ial and Llanferres, 1347-1348, 1547-1614; Llangollen, 1555-1734, 1856; Ruabon, 1435-1859; Wrexham, 1293, 1394, 1617-1848; and miscellaneous Denbighshire deeds, [?1563x1565]-1680.

Title deeds relating to properties of the Llwydiarth estate (and some previously belonging to Glascoed) in the county of Montgomery. The files comprise: the commote of Caereinion and parish of Castell Caereinion, 1525-1760; Garthbeibio, 1550-1734; Llanerfyl, 1551-1731; Llanfair Caereinion, 1524-1839; Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa, 1533-1785, 1907; Llangadfan, 1551-1731; Llangynyw, 1542-1701; and Llanwyddelan, Manafon, Welshpool, miscellaneous Llwydiarth deeds, and miscellaneous Montgomeryshire deeds (outsize), 1544-1764. The deeds include numerous leases by the Vaughan family of Llwydiarth, and after the death of Edward Vaughan (d. 1718) by his trustees and family, and later by his surviving daughter, Anne, and her husband, Sir Watkin Williams Wynn.

Note that the expired lease agreements (apparently in their original arrangement) also incorporate a large number of items belonging to the Mathafarn, Tirymynech and Rhiwsaeson estates; and the miscellaneous estate papers include some items relating to Glan-llyn, Merioneth.

Papers relating to various aspects of estate and household administration, mainly of Wynnstay and the house in St James’s Square, London. Many of them date from the time of Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, 4th Bart. There are also papers and correspondence concerning the various other estates belonging to Wynnstay and occasionally non-Wynnstay estates. As many of the papers cover more than one estate at a time, they have been listed according to type, comprising miscellaneous estate administration papers, 1682-1911; agents’ correspondence (main series), 1777-1813; general bills and receipts, 1639-1789; household account books, 1768-1857; and various inventories and catalogues, 1749-1946.

Estate administration papers of the Llangedwyn and Llansilin/Glascoed estates, situated mainly in Denbighshire, comprising expired tenancy agreements and associated papers, 1850-1903; and miscellaneous estate administration papers, 1659-1905.
