Llangadwaladr, title deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties in the township of Tregeiriog and parish of Llangadwaladr, Denbighshire, purchased by Watkin Kyffin and Sir William Williams of Glascoed. The files describe miscellaneous deeds for properties in Tregeiriog, 1579, 1657-1694; a messuage and a moiety of Erw yr Claw, Y Dwy Oley in Gwerne y Pentrey, etc., and Yr Votty, 1618-1672; Maes y Kay Uchaf and Mae y Kay Isaf, 1620-1660; and Tythyn y Geldini, Gwern y Goedffordd, Tir y Ciw, etc., 1655-1691.

Llangedwyn collection

The Llangedwyn collection comprises property in p. Llangedwyn, co. Denb., p. Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, cos Mont. and Denb., and in p's Pennant, Hirnant, Llanwddyn, Llangynog, Llanfyllin, Meifod, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, Llanfechain and Llandrinio, co. Mont. Collectors: Samuel Lovatt, 1809-1837, David Jones, 1838 and 1839-1857 (part of the estate only), John Croxon, 1839-1851 (part of the estate only), Nathan Burlinson, 1852-1860 (part of the estate only), Joseph Owen Jones, 1857-1861 (part of the estate only). From R94 (1839) onwards, details regarding this collection will be found in two different places in each volume: the first number given contains that part of the estate situated in co. Denb., and the second number contains that part of the estate situated in co. Mont. After R116/2e (1861), property in p's Llangedwyn, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Pennant, Hirnant, Llanwddyn, Llanfyllin, Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain, will be found in one or more of the following rentals, before they appear together once again in the collection entitled Farm and Cottage Rents: R116/3d and R117/2c (being settled estates in cos Denb. and Mont.), and R116/3a and R117/2a (being estates of which Sir Watkin Williams Wynn is seised in fee simple). Llangedwyn estate rents

The collection comprises property in p's Oswestry, Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, Wrexham, Gresford, Ruabon, Holt, Llangollen, Llandysilio-yn-Iâl, Llanarmon-yn-Iâl, Llandegla, Llangedwyn, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog and Llansilin, co. Denb., Llansanffraid-ym-Mechain and Pennant, co. Mont., Bangor Is-coed, co. Flint, and Tilston, Cheshire. The pre-1897 Llangedwyn estate rents (the estate of Lady Williams Wynn) are not contained in separate volumes as below, but, rather, with other estate rentals in the series of Farm and Cottage receiving rentals. After 1911 (RD29), the Llangedwyn rents re-appear in those rentals. Some additional properties are included in the Llangedwyn rentals from 1897 onwards as a result of the transfer of certain properties from the Wynnstay and Ruthin estate to the Llangedwyn estate. Llangedwyn rents will also be found in the series of general rentals (see Farm and cottage rents, 1863-1898). The Llangedwyn rentals are half-yearly, ending either at Lady Day or Michaelmas. Cynllaith Owain chief rents, consisting of property in t's Lloran and Priddbwll [p. Llansilin], co. Denb., are also included from 1898 (RD4). However, since these chief rents were collected yearly, at Michaelmas, they will only be found in the Michaelmas volumes. Details of Cynllaith Owain chief rents before 1898 will be found in the general rentals, and in the series of Tithe, chief and fee farm rentals.

Llangedwyn, title deeds,

Title deeds relating to properties in the parish of Llangedwyn, Denbighshire, being mainly purchases of Edward Vaughan of Llwydiarth. The files describe miscellaneous properties in Llangedwyn, 1516-1734; miscellaneous properties in the township of Sgrwgan, 1550-1714; properties in Cil, 1613-1626; and parcels of land in Y Werne Vawr and Bacherneley in Sgrwgan, 1683-1688.

In the Wynnstay rentals these properties are listed under the estates of Glantanat, Llangedwyn, Glascoed and Llansilin. Two bundles of deeds record substantial purchases by Sir William Williams of Le Forrest and the Kevenhire estate in Banhadla and Llanarmon Mynydd Mawr, Denbighshire, in 1685 and 1698. Other deeds record acquisitions by Watkin Kyffin of Glascoed and Edward Vaughan of Celynog and Llwydiarth.
