Accounts, correspondence etc. re. the Abbey Tintern iron and wire works in p's Chappel Hill and Tintern

Accounts, correspondence (original and copies), arbitration awards, etc. relating to the Abbey Tintern iron and wire works in the parishes of Chappel Hill and Tintern, co. Mon. Most of the documents are for the period 1821-43. In the former year the works had been leased by the Duke of Beaufort to William Mathews, who, in 1828, assigned them to Copley Brown and Jeremiah Sharp Brown. A dispute had arisen between the Duke and the Messrs Brown concerning the supply of cordwood to the works. A large number of the documents refers to this dispute and a large number to the conditions for releasing the works in 1842.
