A volume, [1813x1815] (watermark 1813), containing translations into English verse, probably by Sir John Bernard Bosanquet (see pencil note on f. 2), of Welsh poetry by Dafydd ap Gwilym (ff. 4-5), Aneirin (ff. 6-7 verso), Taliesin (ff. 8-10), Gwalchmai ap Meilyr (ff. 11-13), Cynddelw Brydydd Mawr (f. 14 recto-verso) and Iolo Goch (ff. 16-17 verso).
Also included are notes on the poets and their works (ff. 20-30 verso) and an English translation of triads attributed to Catwg Ddoeth (ff. 18-19 verso). The volume is illustrated with six ink and wash sketches (ff. 3, 4, 5, 11, 17 verso, 26), including one of Cilgerran Castle, Pembrokeshire (f. 4). Frances Elizabeth Lewis (d. 1846), to whom the volume was given (see f. 2), was the sister of Mary Anne (d. 1819), wife of J. B. Bosanquet.

John Cowper Powys and Llewelyn Powys letters to Margaret Moon

Fifty letters, 1937-1961, from John Cowper Powys (ff. 6-49, 51-60 verso), one letter, 1959, from his companion, Phyllis Playter (f. 50), and six letters and two postcards, 1937-1939 (ff. 62-72), together with an inscribed photograph, 1937 (f. 61), from Llewelyn Powys, to Margaret Moon (afterwards Margaret Newton). Many of the letters contain reminiscences of Montacute, Somerset, childhood home of the Powys brothers, and birthplace of Margaret Moon. Two of the letters from John Cowper Powys (ff. 30-32 verso) are in the hand of Phyllis Playter, writing as his amanuensis. Also included are three letters, 1990, from Margaret Newton to Paul Roberts, editor of the Powys Society Newsletter (ff. 1-5).
The letters contain references to Thomas Hardy (ff. 13 verso, 40 recto-verso, 48), Theodore Dreiser (f. 44), W. B. Yeats (f. 29 verso) and Theodore Francis Powys (ff. 38 verso, 39 verso).

A manuscript containing prose texts and strict metre poetry in Welsh in the hand of Robert Richard, an otherwise unknown scribe, c. 1760 (see notes on ff. 1, 29v), with a few later additions. Place-names mentioned in accounts added on ff. 47v and 68v suggest the volume to have been in the Betws Abergele area, co. Denbigh, in the late 18th century. The prose includes 'Erra Pater' (ff. 1-10v) and other prognosticatory texts (ff. 10v-13); astronomical memoranda (ff. 13-15v, 43r-v); 'Histori y Saith Wyr Doethion o Rufain' (ff. 17-29v); 'Athrawieth Historaeawl ...' (ff. 29v-41v); 'Histori y Saith Gyscadur' (ff. 42-3); 'Llyma fal i mae un yn tebygu ei ardeml ... sef ei deml gorphorol' (ff. 44v-6v); and 'Histori o hanes Adda ag Efa' (ff. 46v-7). The poetry comprises englynion including an englyn 'a ganwyd am gladdedigaeth Bytheiad Llewelyn ap Ierwerth Drwyn-dwn ...' (f. 18v); 'Erfynniad Taliessin' (f. 44); and cywyddau by Syr Dafydd Owain, Gwilym ap Siôn ap Dafydd, Huw Morys, Ieuan Brydydd Hir, John Prichard, Maredudd ap Rhys, Siôn Dafydd Lâs, Siôn Phylip, Wiliam Llyn and Wiliam Phylip (ff. 48-68).

Thirty-five letters from Dafydd Ladd (c. 1950- ), who was connected with a series of bombings in England and Wales during the early 1980s and imprisoned in 1983 on charges of possessing explosives. The letters, written from Cardiff, Long Lartin, Featherstone and Leyhill prisons, 1983-1988, to Ioan M. Richard, a 'Welsh republican', relate mainly to Welsh Nationalism, the political situation and personal matters.
