During the 17th and 18th centuries Eastlake in the parish of Amroth, Pembrokeshire, was the residence of the Howell family. Following the death of John Howells in 1778, Eastlake was owned by Edmund Probin.

The Lloyd family resided at Clochfaen, which is situated near Llangurig, Montgomeryshire. The relationship between the two estates has not been established.
