Biographical history

Major Robert John Harrison (1779-1844) married Sophia Maria (d. 1836), the daughter of William Ilbert of Bowringsleigh, Devon, in 1810. Harrison took possession of the Llantysilio and Llanlloddian estates, Montgomeryshire, around 1822 on the death of Thomas Jones (fl. 1800-1816) of Llantysilio Hall, who died intestate. It appears that a dispute over possession of the estate was settled at the Shrewsbury Summer Assizes, 1823, and the Ruthin Summer Assizes, 1831. Major Harrison's son, the Rev. Robert John Harrison (d. 1872) of Caerhowel, Montgomeryshire, was rector of Forden. He married Elizabeth (d. 1858), daughter of the Rev. Devereux Mytton of Pen y lan, Montgomeryshire. Their son, Robert John Harrison (b. 1852) of Caer Howel married Charlotte Henrietta, third daughter of Hugh Montgomery of Grey Abbey, County Down, Ireland, in 1874.
