The contents include an alphabetical list of place-names in England, Wales, and Scotland, with etymological notes; an alphabetical list of English, Welsh, and other personal names, with brief notes on their derivation; notes on the chief elements in Celtic river names, English place-name elements, English vocabulary, Carmarthen fairs, folk-names, genealogy, early Britain, Owen Glyndwr, the monastic orders, the Stone-Age men, 'Twm Sion Catty's alleged marriage with the Heiress of Ystradffin', etc.; annotated transcripts of the last letters written by David Rees, Llanelly, who was hanged at Carmarthen in 1888; an account of Sir Hugh Vaughan, the duellist, from 'Les Chroniques de Jersey' written in 1585 by Samuel de Carteret, with an English translation; a transcript of a letter from Theo. Miscellanea'.

There are two slips of parchment either end of the manuscript: the first is part of a 16th century deed bearing the signature of one George Hygons; the second part is a letter from T. Duffus Hardy, Public Record Office to W. W. E. Wynne, 30 January 1863.

A volume containing miscellany of prose and verse items in the hand of Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'), divided into three sections each described on its 'title-page' as 'Brith y Coed sef cynnulliad cymmysg o hen Bethau Cymreig Rhyddiaith a Phrydyddiaeth Cynnulliad Iolo Morganwg'. These three sections are numbered Rhifyn 1, 11, 111 respectively. The contents of section 1 (pp. i-viii, 1-153) consist of miscellaneous items including notes on the three bardic brothers Ednyfed, Madawc (Benfras), and Llywelyn ap Gruffudd of Marchwiail [co. Denbigh] (11), copies of versions of the dedicatory epistle to Richard Mostyn and the letter to the reader which Gruffudd Hiraethog composed as introductory material to his booklet or volume 'Lloegr drigiant ddifyrrwch Brytanaidd Gymro' which contained, inter alia, his collection of Welsh proverbs (see D. J. An incomplete text of the 'Brute Chronicle' from Brutus to the reign of Henry V.
The first eight folios, containing the 'prologue of Albion' and the beginning of the story of Brutus, are in an earlier hand than the remainder of the manuscript.
