Biographical history
George Owen (1552-1613), antiquary, was born at Henllys, near Newport, Pembrokeshire. His most important work, The Description of Penbrokshire, was begun in December 1602.

George Owen, Description of Pembrokeshire, Cymmrodorion Record Series 1, p. 531]. Reel 2, 'A Pamphelett conteyninge the description of Milforde Haven... 1595 by George Owen...' [cf. Cardiff MSS 2.879 and 2.932]. Written in excellent secretary and italic by one of George Owen's scribes. Title-page decorated in colour, black and white pen drawings for initials.
